Where the rate comes from

Municipal tax: 20,2 %
Regional tax: 11,55 %
Burial fee: 0,292 %
Total: 32,042 %
Church fee (members only): 1,1 % to 1,42 %, by parish

Skatteverket rounds the total rate to a whole number to pick the table, so 32,042 % reads from table 32. Your payslip or your tax decision shows the table your employer actually uses.

Worth knowing

This is for your main job

The table applies to your main income. On pay from a second job, the employer takes 30% straight off unless Skatteverket has decided otherwise for you.

It is what is taken each month, not your final tax

The table assumes you earn the same every month of the year. Your final tax is worked out after the year ends, from your income tax return, and the difference comes back as a refund or a bill.

Working only part of the year?

If you will earn much less this year than twelve months at this pay — a summer job, a few months between studies — the table takes more than you will end up owing. You can ask Skatteverket for an adjustment (jämkning) so less is taken each month, instead of waiting for the refund.
