Town Tools builds free, public tools for Norway and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

The furnace-oil ceiling since October 16, 2026 — unchanged at the last adjustment.
What a tank costs at the ceiling
At the maximum
$1,947.60
900 L × 216.4 ¢/L = $1,947.60
That is the ceiling, not a quote. A dealer may charge less than the regulated maximum, and may not charge more.
The figure covers the fuel only. A delivery, minimum-fill or after-hours charge is on top of it, and the regulator does not set those.
The nearest dealers deliver from Tignish, six kilometres away, and from O'Leary. Postal addresses on Norway Road read Tignish, so a price quoted for Tignish is a price quoted for here.
Norway has no shops and no local government, and the oil and propane that heat a house here arrive by truck. Two hundred-odd buildings along Norway Road, 216 cm of snow a year: the winter fuel bill is the biggest cheque most households write, and the first figure anyone sees is the delivery slip.
Where a litre’s money goes
The regulator publishes its own arithmetic for the 216.4 ¢/L ceiling. Most of it is the fuel itself; the tax is a small slice.

Federal Fuel Charge reads “Not Applicable” on this table. The charge does not apply to furnace oil in this province, which is not the same as it being zero.
Propane, by supplier
These are maximums too — the most each supplier may charge. Propane is the one fuel here where a household picks who sells to it.

“Not offered” is where the published table carries a blank or a 0.0 for that supplier and product. A 0.0 there is not a free litre — it means they do not sell it.
The propane maximums exclude the federal fuel charge and tax, as the published table states.
Propane is adjusted at 12:01 a.m. every second Friday.
At the pump
Motor fuel has a floor as well as a ceiling, and a station may price anywhere between the two. So unlike furnace oil there is something to shop for, and the figure on the pump is the one you pay.

Where this comes from
Fuel prices here are set rather than surveyed: the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC) fixes them and publishes the figures above, including its own arithmetic.
Gas, diesel and furnace oil are adjusted at 12:01 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday; propane every second Friday.
The regulator says it has moved to twice-weekly scheduled adjustments until further notice, so the next date is the schedule as it stands rather than a date it has promised.
On that schedule the next adjustment is due October 20, 2026.
We last read the regulator’s page: now.
Every figure on this page is cents per litre, as published.

What this page cannot tell you
What your own dealer charged you. The regulator sets a ceiling; the invoice is between you and the dealer.
Delivery, minimum-fill and after-hours charges. Those are not regulated prices and are not on the published table.
What the price was last week, or where it is going next. The regulator issues a notice for each adjustment and this page reads only the current one.
Whether a price you were charged was lawful. That is the regulator’s own question, and its pages are linked below.
