Waste (black cart)
The black cart. IWMC gives every residential customer a black waste cart and a green compost cart, collected on alternating weeks. Maximum cart weight is 220 lb (100 kg).
Compost (green cart)
The green cart, on the weeks the black one is not collected. Sorting is required under Waste Watch — a cart that is not sorted is tagged and left.
Recyclables (blue bags)
Transparent blue bags, which you buy yourself. Recyclables are collected monthly rather than fortnightly, so the gap between these dates is longer than for the carts.
Christmas trees
A single collection in early January, once IWMC publishes the date.
Spring and fall cleanup
IWMC's twice-yearly cleanup period, which runs over several weeks rather than on one day.
