About these tools

Town Tools builds free, public tools for Norway and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

Norway Road and the Tignish Shore

The farms and houses along Norway Road and the Tignish Shore roads outside Tignish village. Every civic address on Norway Road that IWMC lists falls on this calendar. If you are not sure which one covers your driveway, check your own civic address on IWMC's collection calendar or call 1-888-280-8111.

Putting it out

At the road by 07:00 a.m. on collection day.

Collection begins at 7:00 a.m. Carts and bags need to be out before then, not at 7.

Put carts and bags within 6 feet (1.8 m) of the curb, on the same side of the road as your house — never across the road.

After heavy snow you may place carts up to 18 feet (5.5 m) from the curb. Keep them where the driver can see them, and never on top of or behind a snowbank.

If a truck cannot get down your road, IWMC collects at the closest serviceable road. Call 1-888-280-8111 to ask how that works for your lane.

If your material was sorted and out by 7 a.m. and the truck missed it, report the miss to IWMC by phone within two working days.

On a storm day IWMC cancels collections region by region. Norway is in the West Prince region, and cancellations are posted on the Collection Interruptions page.

What goes out

Waste (black cart)

The black cart. IWMC gives every residential customer a black waste cart and a green compost cart, collected on alternating weeks. Maximum cart weight is 220 lb (100 kg).

Compost (green cart)

The green cart, on the weeks the black one is not collected. Sorting is required under Waste Watch — a cart that is not sorted is tagged and left.

Recyclables (blue bags)

Transparent blue bags, which you buy yourself. Recyclables are collected monthly rather than fortnightly, so the gap between these dates is longer than for the carts.

Christmas trees

A single collection in early January, once IWMC publishes the date.

Spring and fall cleanup

IWMC's twice-yearly cleanup period, which runs over several weeks rather than on one day.
