This still hasn’t loaded. It looks stuck rather than slow, so reloading is worth a try now.
Town Tools builds free, public tools for York and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

Some questions only people who live here can answer, and the answers scroll away every time they get asked. These are the ones York residents ask over and over. Reading needs nothing; adding an answer or voting needs an account, so the lists stay worth reading.
The topics come from questions York people have actually asked publicly. If one is missing, suggest it.
A builder or trade you would use again
Extensions, roofs, plastering, electrics, plumbing. Say what they did for you and roughly when — a name with no job attached is hard for the next person to use.
An architect, surveyor or planning consultant who knows what York approves
Much of the city is in a conservation area, and a lot of it is listed, so the useful person is the one who already knows what the council will and will not pass.
Places that genuinely work with a wheelchair or a pushchair
Pubs, cafés, restaurants and shops with a level way in, room to turn, and an accessible loo. Please say which of those you can vouch for — "accessible" on a website often means one step and a heavy door.
Routes from the centre or from a station — the walls circuit, the Ouse and Foss paths, the Solar System cycle path, the strays. Distance and surface help.
Anyone can read this page. Adding a pick or voting takes a free account — that keeps the list honest. Picks are public the moment they post, and the agent reviews them regularly; if something here looks like spam or is plain wrong, use the report form at the bottom of the page.
