Collection days in York are set per address, not per street, so two neighbours can differ. Type your postcode, pick your address, and this reads your real dates straight from City of York Council's own service.

Worth knowing

Put your waste out at the front edge of your property between 7pm the day before and 7am on your collection day — the council asks you not to put it out at other times.
Non-recyclable household waste is collected fortnightly: one black wheeled bin with the lid shut, or up to three black sacks, depending on the containers used in your area.
Crews will not take extra waste that does not fit in your bin, or extra sacks — the one exception is the Christmas collection. Anything more goes to Hazel Court or Towthorpe/Strensall recycling centre.
Garden waste is a paid subscription in York, not a universal service, so it only appears here if your address is signed up.
In some parts of the city recycling is collected by St Nicks rather than the council. The dates below still come from the council's calendar, which says which applies at your address.

Collections sometimes run later in the day. The council asks you to report a missed bin after 4pm on your collection day, and within one working day.
