Worth knowing

Nearly half of Vista is high fire-risk

About 46% of buildings in Vista sit in high wildfire-risk areas, and the town's Santa Ana wind days drive the most dangerous fire weather. Vista is inland, not coastal, so hot dry offshore winds — not marine fog — set the worst conditions.

PSPS: the power may be cut on purpose

On extreme fire-weather days SDG&E may run a Public Safety Power Shutoff — a planned, targeted outage to stop its lines sparking a fire. It's separate from a storm outage and can last a while, so check SDG&E for whether your address is in scope and plan for medical equipment and refrigeration.
