Is My Trash Day Delayed?

Whether a city holiday pushes your EDCO trash, recycling and green waste day back this week — the exact rule, and every 2026-27 date it applies to.

EDCO Disposal collects trash, recycling and green waste together, on one day a week, for every Vista address. A city holiday can push that day back — here is exactly when, and when it doesn't.

How does a holiday change my collection day?

When one of EDCO's six observed holidays falls on a weekday, every collection from that day through the end of the week moves one day later.

A Monday holiday delays the whole week: Monday's collection moves to Tuesday, Tuesday's to Wednesday, and so on through Friday customers, who move to Saturday. A Thursday holiday only affects Thursday and Friday customers, who move to Friday and Saturday. If your regular day comes before the holiday that week, nothing changes for you at all.

Which holidays actually delay collection in 2026 and 2027?

New Year's Day, Thursday 1 January 2026 — one-day delay for Thursday and Friday customers only.

Memorial Day, Monday 25 May 2026 — one-day delay, all week.

Labor Day, Monday 7 September 2026 — one-day delay, all week.

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 26 November 2026 — one-day delay for Thursday and Friday customers only.

Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026 — one-day delay for Friday customers only.

New Year's Day, Friday 1 January 2027 — one-day delay for Friday customers only.

Which holidays do NOT delay collection?

Independence Day falls on a Saturday in 2026 (4 July), so EDCO's own rule applies: a holiday that lands on a Saturday or Sunday does not delay collection for the rest of that week at all.

EDCO also does not observe several federal and state holidays as collection closures, so they have no effect on your day: Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Presidents' Day (Washington's Birthday), Cesar Chavez Day, Juneteenth, and Veterans Day. Collection runs as normal on all of them.

What's my regular collection day, and is it the same for trash, recycling and green waste?

Yes — EDCO collects your trash, recycling and green waste cart together, on the same single day each week. There's no separate recycling day to track.

Which day is yours depends on your address. EDCO's Vista site, city-of-vista.edcodisposal.com, has a schedule lookup that will tell you, or call EDCO customer service at (760) 727-1600.

An unusual week still moved my collection — what do I do?

This page covers the published holiday schedule, but EDCO's own calendar is always the last word if a truck runs early, a route changes, or a storm delays service for another reason. Check the schedules on city-of-vista.edcodisposal.com or call (760) 727-1600 before assuming a missed collection is a mistake.
