El-Mina lives by the water — the fishing fleet works out of the old harbour, families walk the Corniche in the evening, and boats run to the Palm Islands in summer. This page reads the live sea and wind off El-Mina so you can see, at a glance, whether it's an easy day on the water or one to stay in.
The wind matters more than the swell here
Off El-Mina the sea is usually low, so it's the wind that makes or breaks a day — a hot afternoon can bring a sea breeze up fast off the point. Treat this as a planning aid, not a replacement for what the older skippers on the quay already know from the sky and the water.
No lifeguards on this coast
People swim off the Corniche rocks and around the Palm Islands in summer, but there is no lifeguard service and no daily water-quality testing here. After heavy rain, or near the harbour and storm outfalls, give the water time to clear. Children and weak swimmers should stay close in.
El-Mina & the Corniche
The reading is for the open water off El-Mina — it covers the fishing harbour, the Corniche seafront and the crossing out to the Palm Islands (Jazr an-Nakhl).

A forecast is not the sea itself
These are open-water model forecasts, not what the water is doing where you are — out here the weather turns fast and the water is cold year-round, with no lifeguards. Wear a life jacket, tell someone your plan and your return time, and if it looks wrong, stay in. In an emergency at sea, call the Civil Defense on 125.
