Sewer is billed on the same metered water you used that month. There is no separate sewer meter and no winter average, which is why filling a pool or an outdoor leak raises the sewer line too — Starkville Utilities has a published adjustment policy for both.

An estimate, not your bill
A new water and sewer connection takes a $35 deposit, and a new electric connection $150. Neither earns interest. If your landlord has a service agreement with Starkville Utilities, the service transfers to them when you move out and no deposit is charged on those properties.

Starkville Utilities' residential electric schedule carries a $17.03 monthly customer charge and 9.219 cents a kilowatt-hour — but the schedule itself says the energy charge moves with TVA's published fuel-cost adjustment, which is not on this site, so no honest monthly figure can be worked out here. Check that one in seven in-city addresses (2,259 of 16,260) is on 4-County Electric rather than Starkville Utilities before you call anyone about a power cut.

A single-family home on sewer but not on city water pays a flat $32.11 a month inside the limits, or $48.17 outside. That is a different bill from the one this page works out, and other kinds of property are worked out from the state health department's average-usage design criteria instead.

Bills are due 15 days from the date they are mailed. After that a 5% penalty is added each month, plus a $2.00 late-notice fee. Ring 662-323-3133 before it gets to a disconnection — the office is at 200 N. Lafayette Street, open Monday to Friday 8:00 to 16:30, with the drive-through open until 17:00.
