thousands of gallons
≈ 4,000 gallons
Your bill prints the gallons you used. The rates are per thousand gallons, so type 4 for 4,000 gallons — the line underneath shows the gallons back to you as you type.

1 thousand gallons = 1,000 gallons. The residential rates. A base charge is billed for every meter, and for every unit or connection behind a master meter, so an apartment building carries one base charge per apartment.

Water includes the monthly base charge, your metered usage, any per-meter fees and sales tax.
Sewer is billed on the same metered water you used that month. There is no separate sewer meter and no winter average, which is why filling a pool or an outdoor leak raises the sewer line too — Starkville Utilities has a published adjustment policy for both.
Nearly half the addresses with a Starkville mailing address sit outside the city limits, and those customers pay 50% more for water and sewer. Say which you are, put in roughly how much water you used, and this works the bill out from Starkville Utilities' published rates.
This is a guide, not your actual bill. Real bills depend on your meter size, your exact metered use, and any adjustments or programs you qualify for. Check your bill, or ask whoever bills you, for the exact figures.
Worth knowing
What it costs to switch the water on
A new water and sewer connection takes a $35 deposit, and a new electric connection $150. Neither earns interest. If your landlord has a service agreement with Starkville Utilities, the service transfers to them when you move out and no deposit is charged on those properties.
Electricity is a separate question, and this page does not total it
Starkville Utilities' residential electric schedule carries a $17.03 monthly customer charge and 9.219 cents a kilowatt-hour — but the schedule itself says the energy charge moves with TVA's published fuel-cost adjustment, which is not on this site, so no honest monthly figure can be worked out here. Check that one in seven in-city addresses (2,259 of 16,260) is on 4-County Electric rather than Starkville Utilities before you call anyone about a power cut.
A single-family home on sewer but not on city water pays a flat $32.11 a month inside the limits, or $48.17 outside. That is a different bill from the one this page works out, and other kinds of property are worked out from the state health department's average-usage design criteria instead.
Bills are due 15 days from the date they are mailed. After that a 5% penalty is added each month, plus a $2.00 late-notice fee.
