The official channels

DriveBC — live map, cameras and conditionsThe official source, updated continuously. Search for Highway 16 or Highway 97, and open the cameras along your route.

Designated winter tire and chain routesWinter tires or chains are required on most BC highways from 1 October. The end date depends on the route, and roadside signs mark where each stretch starts and ends.

EmergencyInfoBCProvince-wide alerts during wildfire, flood and storm events, when a closure is part of something bigger.

City of Prince George — snow clearingThe highways are the province's; the city's own streets are cleared in priority order. This is the page for those.

Worth knowing

Two highways, one crossing

Highway 16 and Highway 97 cross in Prince George, so one event on either can hold up traffic on both. The city is also the place the north evacuates to when wildfire closes a road: if the Wildfires page shows a fire near a highway, check this page next.

What this page does not show

Only events DriveBC has published. It does not show the weather on the road, and a stretch with no event listed is not the same as a dry, bare road — look at the DriveBC cameras and give yourself extra time in snow.
