There is one ticket, sold only at the counter by the arched bridge into the fort — so start there. It is good for the whole day at every site on the list.
Nobody publishes a child rate for Orchha. The widely repeated "under 15 free" is the Archaeological Survey of India's national rule, and these monuments are the state's, not the ASI's, so it does not automatically apply here. Ask at the counter.
Good to know — what your ticket already covers
One ticket covers every floor and rooftop in the palace groups, plus the cenotaphs and the temples on the list. Climbing the stairs is included. You do not need to pay anyone to unlock a roof, an upper floor or a locked room — that is a payment for something you have already bought.
Ram Raja Temple, its aarti and the daily Guard of Honour are free, and so is walking the Betwa ghats and the bazaar.
There is no reliable published camera charge. Madhya Pradesh Tourism's own page still lists ₹25 for a still camera and ₹250 for video, but that page is dated 2020 and its ticket prices are the withdrawn ones; a 2025 visitor report says ₹400. Ask at the counter, and note that phone photos have not been charged for.
Vehicle parking is ₹30 and the receipt is good all day anywhere in Orchha. Being asked to pay again at the next monument is the thing to refuse.
The Sound & Light show at Sheesh Mahal is priced separately and is not part of this ticket: ₹200 for an Indian adult and ₹100 for an Indian child, ₹400 and ₹250 for foreign visitors. It runs later in summer (English 19:30, Hindi 20:45) than in winter (18:30 and 19:45).
Madhya Pradesh Tourism keeps a public register of 44 approved guides for Orchha, each with a registration number. Ask to see the number, and agree the price and what the tour covers before you set off.
Tipping a helpful guide or keeper is always your choice, never a charge you owe to go in.
Tickets are sold only at the counter by the arched bridge — there is no official online ticket for Orchha's monuments, so anyone selling one online is not official.
Free — don’t pay for these
Ram Raja Temple — The living temple where Ram is worshipped as a king. Darshan is free — there is no ticket.
The evening Guard of Honour — Police give Ram a daily gun salute during the evening aarti at Ram Raja Temple. Free to watch.
The Betwa ghats & Kanchana Ghat — Walking the riverbank — and the sunset view of the cenotaphs reflected in the water — costs nothing.
Orchha's lanes and bazaar — There is no town entry fee. Wandering is free.
Getting here from Jhansi
Jhansi is 15-18 km away and is the real railhead: about 40 minutes by auto, 20-30 by car. Orchha has its own small station (ORC) 5 km from town, but it is barely served and getting from it into Orchha is harder than coming from Jhansi. Nothing below is a published tariff — every fare here is negotiated, so agree it before you set off.

Where these come from, honestly: no current tariff for Orchha's monuments is published anywhere online. The ₹50 and ₹750 are the rates the Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Culture Department fixed in an order of July 2022 — a rollback of an increase it had made three months earlier after the Orchha guides' association objected — reported in the press at the time and matched by what visitors have said they paid through 2024 and 2025. Madhya Pradesh Tourism's own Orchha page still shows ₹10 and ₹250; that page is dated 2020 and those rates no longer stand, which is why almost every travel site has them wrong. The monuments belong to the state Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museums in Bhopal, not to the ASI — Banganga Marg, Bhopal, 0755-2553307, mparchaeology@gmail.com, whose own website was unreachable when this page was last checked.
