Most of London's worst disruption comes from two things: industrial action (RMT and ASLEF disputes periodically shut large parts of the Tube for a day or more, with reduced service the morning after) and signal failures on the older deep-level lines. On a strike day a line can show as Suspended hours before the walkout actually begins, so it's worth checking the night before. TfL usually accepts Tube tickets on London buses, and often on National Rail, when a line is severely disrupted.
In 2024 the single orange 'London Overground' was split into six separately named lines — Liberty, Lioness, Mildmay, Suffragette, Weaver and Windrush — each shown on its own here. The Elizabeth line (the Crossrail route through central London) opened in 2022 and is listed separately from the Tube.
