When's the Skip on My Street?

The city's dated rota of veľkokapacitné kontajnery — type your street and see which days one stands near you, plus your whole mestská časť's remaining rounds.

Twice a year Košice puts veľkokapacitné kontajnery — big open skips — out on named streets for a few days at a time, so households can clear out old furniture and other things too big for the ordinary bin. Type your street and this page will tell you which days one stands near you, and what else is coming to your mestská časť. In 2026 the spring round ran 17 March – 1 May and the autumn round runs 15 September – 16 October.

This is not your bin day

This page covers only the veľkokapacitný kontajner rounds — the big containers for old furniture and other bulky things, placed for a few days at a time. Your ordinary household and recycling collection is a completely separate schedule, and this tool does not know it. Keep putting your usual bins out as normal.

What goes in a veľkokapacitný kontajner

Old furniture — beds, wardrobes, sofas, armchairs, chairs, kitchen units
Carpets, parquet and wooden flooring, wooden battens
Green waste from the garden — leaves, grass, branches
Break it down first. KOSIT asks for bulky items to be minimised before they go in, so the container holds what the street actually needs it to hold

What does not go in a veľkokapacitný kontajner

Sorted waste — paper, plastics, metals, drink cartons, glass. Those have their own containers all year
Kitchen waste and bio-waste, unless a notice on the container says otherwise
Anything that will not fit. Leave it at a zberný dvor instead of beside the container

Never put these in

These cause fires in a loaded container, and the load has to be refused.

Smouldering or still-warm ash
Explosive or otherwise hazardous waste
Packaging that held flammable substances
Flammable liquids
Unslaked (quick)lime
