Town Tools builds free, public tools for Francistown and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

People at the crossing are starting to report the queue — tap to see.
Nobody publishes how long the queue is at Ramokgwebana. BURS and the Department of Immigration publish the hours and the rules; the wait itself is only known to the people standing in it.
This board is for them. If you have just crossed, or you are in the line now, tap your direction and say roughly how long it is taking. Anyone deciding whether to leave Francistown now or later can then see what the last few hours looked like.

The border authority
These are the people standing in the line, not the border authority. Nobody here can say whether you will be let through, and a quiet board does not mean a short queue. The hours, the documents and the rules are here: BURS — travellers’ guide to customs at the border — The phone number is the Ramokgwebana post itself, as listed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (also 247 0185, 247 0187 and 247 0188). Customs rules are BURS’s.The border authority’s information line: +267 247 0184
How this works
Each report counts for about 3 hours, then drops off on its own — the crossing is only open part of the day, so the board keeps itself current. A direction shows once at least 1 recent report is in; when several are in we show the middle one, so a single voice can’t swing it.
Open 06:00 to 22:00, every day
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship lists Ramokgwebana as open from 06:00 to 22:00, Sunday to Saturday (Botswana Ports of Entry, updated April 2025). Arriving after 22:00 means waiting for the morning.
The festive season is the hardest time to cross
Between 18 and 23 December 2024, 29,115 people crossed at Ramokgwebana, more than the year before, and most were leaving Botswana. Immigration said that before the post moved to 24-hour opening on 22 December, some travellers spent long hours at the border and others slept there. The 24-hour openings are announced each year for particular days, usually just before Christmas and in the first week of January — check the official notices rather than assuming them.
These are reports from people crossing, not from BURS, Immigration or ZIMRA. A quiet board means nobody has reported recently — not that there is no queue.
