The amount on your contract before anything is taken off — not what lands in your account.

Cluj-Napoca runs on IT salaries the tax code doesn't make obvious to calculate by hand — the sector's own income-tax exemption was repealed outright from January 2025. This tool applies the current national rates to the gross pay you type in.
An estimate, not your payslip
This applies the flat national rates to the gross figure you enter — it doesn't know your specific contract, benefits, or whether you're opted out of the private Pilon II pension (which doesn't change your total deduction, only where part of your CAS goes). It also assumes you're a full-time employee on the standard regime, not a contractor, a second job, or someone with a disability, R&D or prosumer exemption, which the code treats differently.
How the rates are set
Why the IT tax exemption is gone
Until the end of 2024, IT employees earning up to 10,000 lei a month paid no income tax at all. OUG 156/2024, art. LXIV, repealed that exemption (along with the equivalent for construction and agri-food workers) outright — not suspended, not capped — starting with income for January 2025. If you've seen an old "IT scutit de impozit" figure quoted anywhere, it no longer applies.
The minimum wage this is built on
HG 146/2026 set the gross national minimum wage at 4,325 lei a month from 1 July 2026, up from 4,050 lei. The 6,325-lei floor above is 2,000 lei more than that.
