A new kind reads NOAA Coral Reef Watch daily for one reef and states how far the sea is from that reef's own bleaching line. Fare plans now offer a joint ticket to someone who only rides the bus when it is the only or cheapest pass of that length, and have a Portuguese version.

The town's tool-ideas notes had the right title and sources but another town's text in the body, written by a run working on two places at once. They have been rewritten with Newquay's own: what shipped, how the tide model was calibrated and against what, which sources refuse our requests, and the one thing most worth building next — a proper lifeguard-season field, so these dates stop being prose somebody has to retype every spring.
Two things turn over at the start of November and neither page mentioned it. On the parking page: from 1 November the winter tariff takes over, South Fistral is free altogether until 31 March, and the two Cornwall Council car parks both charge less and stop charging at 4pm rather than 6pm. We re-checked every price against the operators' own tariffs and they were all correct. On the sea cleanliness page: England's bathing season ended on 30 September, so the Environment Agency has stopped its weekly sampling here and its pollution-risk forecasts are paused until May. The ratings shown are the 2025 classifications, which are still the most recent published; the 2026 ones are due in late November. The live storm-overflow feed keeps running all winter, which is the half that matters now.
A tool's summary widget is shown in two places: on a town page, where the whole card is a link to the tool, and at the top of the tool's own page, where it is not. It was written for the first, so on 176 towns' "Who to Call" pages the two most urgent numbers — the outage line and the police non-emergency line — sat in large type above the fold as characters to copy out by hand, while the same numbers were one tap further down the same page. They are links now.
The town page now carries a drawing of the Spicket River dropping over the falls beside the old Methuen Company mill wall — the water power the mills were built on, and the reason the streets around it run the way they do.
The electricity page was working out your saving against National Grid's Basic Service rate from December 2024, and saying so in a notice. National Grid has reset that rate several times since; it is 17.185 cents per kWh from 1 August 2026 to 31 January 2027, so that is what the page now compares against. The page also says how to leave Methuen Choice, which it did not before.

Where a river is dammed, the flood service can only forecast above a certain water level and draws everything below it as a straight line. Pages now say so instead of implying the river will not move. Eviction-notice pages can also count court days, which California's 3-day notices need.

Can I Drive There?, the parking comparison, the Park & Ride bus page and Common Questions now describe the permit rules, the six-month warning period and the £3 combined Park & Ride ticket that replaced the £2.50 free-bus offer.
Under a row already labelled "Website", a council's web address was printed in full — on Geneva's recycling page that ran to twelve lines on a phone, and it told you nothing that "geneve.ch" didn't. A link now shows the site it goes to, or the whole address where that is short enough to read at a glance; tapping it still goes exactly where it did. This affected 641 links on 281 pages across 167 towns, most often on the "Who to Call" pages, and 566 of them are fixed. A new check runs over every live page so it does not come back.
Buses heading into Newquay have been diverting via Trenance Road since 4 September, because of the one-way system on Cliff Road for the Mid Cornwall Metro works. They cannot call at Newquay Railway Station or Tolcarne Beach, and they miss Trenance Gardens, Newquay Zoo, Hilgrove Road and Barrowfield Hotel on the way in; buses leaving town are unaffected. Transport for Cornwall expects this until 31 March 2027. The bus page now says so, and the warning it used to carry about the network being revised 'from 26 July' has been replaced with what actually happened: no Newquay route number changed, and the 85 now also serves Treloggan. The common questions page has Boardmasters 2027 as well — 4 to 8 August, back at Watergate Bay.
The guide had Watergate Bay, Towan and Crantock patrolled 'daily 2 May through late September' and stopped there. The RNLI patrols all three at weekends from 3 to 18 October and every day over half term, 24 October to 1 November, and Fistral every day until 1 November. Saying nothing about that is the wrong way round to be wrong, so all nine beaches now carry their actual 2026 dates — including Porth, Great Western and Tolcarne, which we had understated in the other direction and which finished on 27 September. There is also a new answer to 'is there a lifeguard on the beach at the moment', and a plain warning that from 2 November nobody is watching any Newquay beach until the spring.
Our pages said Newquay Hospital's Minor Injury Unit was walk-in, 8am to 8pm Thursday to Tuesday and closed Wednesdays. That was right when we wrote it in June and it is not right now: Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said on 27 August that the unit is temporarily closed because it does not have enough specialist clinicians, and that it planned to reopen from 5 October on reduced days it had not yet named. The rest of the hospital is open as normal. We are sorry — if you walked up there on our say-so, that is our mistake. Both the contacts page and the common questions page now say the unit is closed and name the nearest walk-in units instead: St Austell 8am to 8pm, Bodmin and Camborne Redruth 8am to 10pm. We will update again once the Trust publishes which days it reopens on.
Newquay is a town where the tide decides things, and until now every tool that depended on it sent you somewhere else to look it up. There is now a tide times page: today's high and low water and the week ahead, with the Gannel crossings, the walk round to Whipsiderry and the town beaches in mind. One caveat, stated plainly. The official tide tables for the port need a licence key we do not have, so these come from a global tide model. We checked it against published Newquay tide tables across 26 successive tides: it ran 34 minutes early on every one, so the times here are shifted 34 minutes later to match, and its tidal range came within 5% so that is left alone. Heights are relative to mean sea level rather than chart datum, so low water shows as a negative number, about 4.3 m below what a printed tide table gives. Good enough to plan a walk or a swim around — not good enough to navigate by, and not a substitute for a tide table if you are cutting it fine.

A tide time in Kaikoura read "Fri, Oct 1" in American order and gave the time zone as "GMT+13" instead of NZDT; one in Reine showed "5:45 p.m." for a place that writes 17:45; Pichilemu saw Spain's 24-hour clock for a Chilean high tide. The language a page is written in and the way a country writes numbers and clocks are two different questions, and in a few places the code was answering the first when it meant the second. Thirteen of the twenty tide pages, both storm-current pages, and the parking-permit fees in Geneva and Oslo now read the way those places actually write them, and so do the weather-warning emails for thirty-eight towns. A test now stops it coming back.

In July 2026 about 3,000 people slept in registered hotels, spas and guesthouses on an average night, roughly 7 for every 100 residents, and January holds about 1,300. It does not count day visitors, second homes or most private lets, so the real summer crowd is larger; the page says so.

We now check every page for this, and have shortened the repeated parts on twenty-two pages so far, keeping whichever version says something about the place itself.
