Some German cities publish their collection dates through Mein-Abfallkalender, a service run on the city's behalf at its own subdomain. It has no API. It answers with a page — and that page carries three things the waste tools we already had could not hold, each of which changes what a resident should do. The first is the city's own notes on individual dates. A collection moved because of a public holiday is flagged on the date it moved to. Showing that date on its own is correct and useless; what someone needs to know is that their Tuesday bin is going out on a Monday this once. The new kind marks those dates and works out the deviation from the dates themselves, so it says "normally a Tuesday" rather than repeating the operator's wording back. The second is streams that are not bins at all. In Erlangen, garden waste is a handful of Saturdays a year at a drop-off point that is somewhere different each time, named only in a note. Listed among the wheelie bins — which is what a dates-only tool would do — it reads as an instruction to put garden waste out at the kerb. So whether a stream is collected from your address or brought somewhere is now a required property of every stream, with no default, and drop-off days render as a place to go. The third is that the collection rhythm can differ street by street inside one town. Erlangen collects paper fortnightly on some streets and every four weeks on others. Rather than assert a rhythm in configuration, the tool works it out from the year the city published for that street, and says nothing when the data does not support a pattern. One smaller thing, for anyone who has picked their street and got a blank page elsewhere: cities that re-cut their collection rounds often leave the old street records in the list, labelled with the year they expired. Most of those answer with nothing. The picker hides them, after checking that every one of them has a current record for the same street, so nobody loses their street to the tidy-up.
There is now a parking cost page for Central Milton Keynes. Choose how long you are staying and it works out what each bay colour costs, using the council's own 2026 tariffs. Two things were not in our notes before and are worth saying plainly, because both change the answer. The standard purple-bay tariff tapers: £1 an hour for the first two hours, then 50p an hour, with a two-hour minimum. A full day in a purple bay is £5. The red premium bays are £2.50 for the first hour and then £2 an hour, which is £16.50 for a working day. Blue long-stay bays are £10 for the day. Charges apply from 7am to 6pm every day, except Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. We also want to correct something we had recorded wrongly ourselves. The £675 figure that comes up whenever CMK parking is discussed is the twelve-month employee permit. A resident permit is £25 a year, and a resident visitor permit is £25 a year. Our own research notes had described the £675 as a residents' permit; they are now fixed against the council's published price list, and all the permit prices are on the new page. The employee permit is deliberately not in the cost comparison. At £3 a day it would come out cheapest for a long stay, and most people cannot buy one.
Erlangen hat jetzt einen Abfallkalender auf der Seite. Das ist nicht überall gleich: die Papiertonne wird in manchen Straßen alle zwei Wochen geleert, in anderen alle vier. Die Daten kommen bei jeder Abfrage direkt vom Abfallkalender der Stadt Erlangen. collection-rhythm is for a city that publishes the waste-collection rule per address rather than the dates, and computes them — verified against the operator's own calendar. deposit-return walks the statutory deadlines at the end of a tenancy and routes to the right tribunal. The garage-occupancy layer also learned to read DATEX II, which is how Jena publishes its live car-park counts.

Towns whose council publishes its heritage registers as open map data can now offer an address check that answers with the property's real status and the obligations that come with it, read live so it never falls behind the register. Towns whose waste calendar lives behind a street picker rather than an API can now offer it here — including the thing a calendar alone leaves out, which is what has no collection day because it goes to a container instead.

Type an address and it reads the City's own heritage registers — designated, listed, or inside one of the three conservation districts — and says what each one means before you replace a window or repair masonry. It also flags the 1 January 2027 deadline, after which Council must remove a listed property from the register unless it has started a designation. Advice from Heritage Services is free, and the page says so.
Storm & Flood Warnings was asking the National Weather Service for Cochise County and for the fire weather zone, but not for Bisbee's public forecast zone. That is the list heat advisories, excessive heat warnings and flood watches are published on — so in a desert town, the alerts that matter most in summer had nowhere to arrive from. The forecast zone has been added. Found by a new check that compares every US town's configured area codes against the ones the Weather Service says its coordinates fall in.
The weather warnings page was asking the National Weather Service for the island's forecast zone and the Straits of Mackinac marine zone, but not for Mackinac County. Those are separate lists, and the county one is where severe thunderstorm, tornado, flash flood and air quality alerts are published. So the page could show gales on the crossing and a heat advisory, and would have stayed silent through a severe thunderstorm warning. It now reads the county as well. Nothing was missed that we know of — no such warning was issued for the island while the gap was open — but it would have been.
A live hour-by-hour NO4 price board with Arva's grid charge added and the state's strømstøtte price cap already applied — so the cheap-hour savings shown are real, not the seven-times-inflated figure a bare spot price would suggest. Anyone on Norgespris is told plainly that none of it changes their bill.

Two fixes to the weather alerts page. Flash flood warnings issued elsewhere in the county — some of them fifty miles away — were appearing as though they were for Sedona; alerts are now checked against the town before they show. Sedona also straddles the Coconino and Yavapai county line, and the page had been asking for only one of the two. It now reads both, so a warning issued for either side of town arrives.
Fire Weather & Storm Warnings was showing a Coastal Flood Advisory. It was a real advisory, but it was written for the Malibu coast — it reached this page because the tool asks the National Weather Service for Los Angeles County, and the county reaches the sea. Alerts are now checked against the Santa Clarita Valley itself before they appear. Red Flag warnings, wind, heat and storm alerts for the valley are unaffected. Thank you to the resident who reported it.
US weather alerts are published against two kinds of area code: a county code and a forecast-zone code. A town's page asks the National Weather Service for both, because the two carry different hazards — tornado, severe thunderstorm, flash flood and air quality alerts go out on county codes, while heat, red flag, fire weather and flood watches go out on forecast zones. Asking for a county, though, turned out to return every alert issued anywhere in that county. Los Angeles County runs from the desert to the sea, so Santa Clarita — thirty miles inland — was shown a Coastal Flood Advisory written for the Malibu coast. Alerts are now checked against the town before they appear. Where the Weather Service publishes a map with an alert, the town has to fall inside it (or within about ten kilometres, since a town is wider than the single point we measure from). Where there is no map, the alert has to name one of the town's own area codes. Anything that can't be placed is still shown, because a warning that might apply is not one to hide. When alerts are in force nearby but none cover the town, the page now says so rather than simply going quiet.
Two additions this week. Festival calendars can now compute Chinese lunisolar dates and solar terms, so a town whose year runs on more than one calendar gets every date worked out forward instead of re-entered each year — and Cheng Beng lands on the right day rather than a fixed date it only matches half the time. And air quality pages can now read Malaysia's Air Pollutant Index from the Department of Environment directly, rather than showing a number on a scale nobody there uses.
California's Tenant Protection Act caps most annual rent increases at 5% plus the local cost-of-living change, up to 10%. For San Diego County that is 8.2% for increases taking effect between 1 August 2026 and 31 July 2027. The page shows the arithmetic, checks a proposed increase and its notice period against the law, and walks the exemptions — because whether the cap applies to your home decides the answer before any sum does. Vista has no rent-control ordinance of its own, so the state law is what applies here. It is not legal advice, and it links the Attorney General's own figures and the legal aid clinic that sits at the Vista courthouse.
Our notes on how the town is serviced named the Sibu Water Board as the water company. It was merged with the Kuching Water Board and LAKU into Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd on 1 August 2025, with Sibu as its Central Region. We have corrected the research and every page that mentions water, and recorded where the company now publishes its interruption notices.
Chinese New Year, Chap Goh Meh, Cheng Beng, the Hungry Ghost Festival, Mid-Autumn, Gawai Dayak, the two Hari Rayas, Good Friday, Christmas, Sarawak Day and the anniversary of the 1901 Foochow landing — each with its next date worked out for you. Four different calendars decide when Sibu closes, and none of them lines up with the others from one year to the next.
Water, the council, floods, boats and air quality, with the right number for each. Sibu is covered by two councils and a separate rural water department, and none of their websites tells you which one covers where you live. It also notes that the Sibu Water Board was merged into Sarawak Water in August 2025 — the old 24-hour number still works.
Tap your area if you have no water, and see whether your neighbours have reported the same. Sibu loses about 46% of the water it treats to mains that crack as the peat under the town settles, which is why a cut in one area says little about the next. The page carries Sarawak Water's 24-hour line, because reporting a fault to them is the thing that gets it fixed.
The hourly Air Pollutant Index reading for Sibu's own monitoring station, with the last 24 hours so you can see which way it is going. It says plainly where 200 sits — the level at which the National Haze Action Plan closes schools — and who actually announces a closure, which is the State Education Department and the district office, not the index.
The river's level at the Express Terminal, shown against the four levels DID Sarawak publishes for that exact gauge. It explains the thing that catches people out: Sibu floods when rain that fell days earlier in Kapit, Baleh, Song and Kanowit arrives at the same time as a king tide, so watching the weather here is not enough. It also says which areas the town-centre flood scheme leaves out.
Sibu now has its own pages: the Rajang's flood levels, the air quality reading the school-closure rule is based on, a board for reporting when the water is off, who to call at which of the town's two councils, and the dates of every community's festivals worked out ahead. Sarawak's third town on Town Tools, after Taiping and Alor Setar in the peninsula.
Our research page listed Redhouse Cymru as an open arts centre; it's actually been closed since 2024, with the building only just back in council hands and no reopening date yet. Fixed.

Tapping a neighbourhood on an events board used to change the button and nothing else you could see — the listings it filters start well below the fold on a phone. There is now a line above the buttons saying how many events are showing, and when a neighbourhood has nothing on it says so once instead of three times further down the page. Counted phrases across the site were following English's rules regardless of the language: French and Portuguese put zero in the singular, Lithuanian has three forms rather than two. Around ninety of them now count the way their own language does.
Towns that pin their bin page now get a compact summary at the top: which bin is on which cycle, and whether a bank holiday is moving collections this week. Separately, parking comparisons now show the operator of each car park — a fact nine towns had already recorded and no page was displaying.

From 31 March 2026 councils across England have had to collect food waste every week, and the coverage of it left Wigan residents with a fair question. Wigan Borough Council is one of thirty authorities named in the regulations as holding a transitional arrangement, running to 1 April 2040, so the duty does not apply here yet — food waste stays in the fortnightly green bin. The bin page now says this, with the source.
Pick how long you're staying and where you're headed, and it ranks the town-centre car parks by what they actually cost. Every council car park is free all day on Saturday and Sunday; the Grand Arcade, which APCOA runs, charges every day. On a weekday the same eight hours costs £3.00 at Trencherfield Mill, Sovereign Road or Haig Street and £10.00 at Water Street, Mona Street or Harrogate Street.
Two new official sources, both Malaysian, both usable by any town we add there. **Prayer times can now come from the authority that publishes them.** Until today the prayer-times tool worked the times out from the sun over each town. That is the right approach where nobody publishes a timetable, and the wrong one where somebody does: in Malaysia, JAKIM publishes an official timetable per zone and every mosque in the zone keeps it, so a computed table lands a minute or two away and still prints a number nobody can check against their mosque. The tool now reads the published table where a town has one. The rule it follows is that a day is served whole, from one source, and the source is named on the page. Never a row with the authority's Fajr and our Asr — two minutes is invisible in a table and decides whether someone prays on time. If the authority's service cannot be reached, the whole day falls back to the computed times and the page says so, in the header and again in the week table. Getting the fallback right meant measuring rather than trusting: the Fajr angle usually quoted for Malaysia turns out to be about nine minutes off JAKIM's own published tables across a month, so we calibrated against the tables themselves and it now agrees to under a minute. **River levels can now come from JPS.** Malaysia's Department of Irrigation and Drainage publishes every telemetry gauge in the country, refreshed about every fifteen minutes — and, unusually, publishes each station's own alert levels beside the reading. That matters, because a river that floods at 2 m in one town floods at 20 m in another, so a Malaysian flood page can now show the authority's published ladder for that exact gauge instead of a national scale applied to it. Reading a public feed honestly means knowing how it fails. This one publishes 0.00 metres for a gauge that has gone offline rather than publishing nothing, and quotes a few stations' readings on a different reference height from their own thresholds. Both are now detected and the reading is withheld, so those pages say "not reporting" rather than showing a river as improbably low. The checks can only ever suppress a reading, never invent or raise one.
Taiping is live with two tools. **Waktu Solat** shows JAKIM's published timetable for zone PRK06 — the same times the mosques here keep, rather than times we work out ourselves. PRK06 reaches beyond the town to Selama, Bagan Serai and Parit Buntar, and includes Kamunting and Matang; the page says so. It also carries something we did not expect to find: Bukit Larut is a separate JAKIM zone, PRK07, and the difference is real — from 1,250 m you see the sun 4 to 5 minutes earlier and lose it 3 to 4 minutes later than the town below. If JAKIM cannot be reached, the page falls back to times computed from the sun and says clearly that it has. It works offline once loaded. **Where Does It Flood?** is the record rather than a forecast. Taiping's flooding is flash flooding from short violent rain, and it lands on the same peri-urban kampungs each time while the heritage core stays dry — so this page maps the places it has happened, from the 274 people evacuated in November 2022 through Kampung Simpang Halt in September 2023 to Kampung Batu 25 on Jalan Trong in June 2026. It names the schools, mosques and suraus that reopen as relief centres, the closure of the Taiping R&R on the expressway in October 2025, and who to call. Nothing on it can go stale, because none of it is a prediction. We looked at putting a live river gauge here and decided against it. The nearest one is about 15 km west on the Sungai Kurau, and the Sungai Larut through the town centre is not gauged at all — a distant river's level would have looked authoritative while describing something other than what floods Taiping. The right live source is rainfall, which JPS also publishes; their rainfall feed is currently returning empty rows, and we will build it when it is serving data again.
Alor Setar is live with two tools. **Waktu Solat** shows JAKIM's published timetable for zone KDH01 — the same times the mosques here keep, rather than times we work out ourselves. The zone covers Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu and Pokok Sena, so the whole city is on one timetable; the page says so, and shows JAKIM's Hijri date and Qibla bearing alongside. If JAKIM's service cannot be reached, the page falls back to times computed from the sun over the town and says clearly that it has done so, on the day and in the week table. It works offline once loaded. **Sungai Kedah: River Level** reads the river's level at the highway bridge in Kota Setar every fifteen minutes from JPS's national flood network, and places it against the four alert levels JPS publishes for that exact gauge — Normal, Waspada, Amaran, Bahaya — with JPS's own wording for what each one means. Alor Setar floods on rain that fell upstream in Sik, Baling and Pendang, often on a day that is dry here, which is why the page watches the river rather than the forecast. It carries the mukims that flood, what to do at each level, and who to call. The page never says a flood degree is in force: JPS measures the river, and the state disaster committee makes that call. One tool we did not build: an assessment tax estimator. It is the clearest unmet need in the town after the 2025 revaluation, and we have the calculator ready — but the rates in circulation come from news reporting rather than from MBAS's own published list, and we could not reach the council's site to check them. A tax calculator built on unverified rates would be worse than none, so it waits until we can confirm the table.
Every tool on this site keeps its headings and buttons in a table with one row per language. Where nobody has written a translation yet, that row points at the English one — which is the right default, because plain English beats a machine-translated guess on a page about flood warnings. A check called check-locales exists to find those rows and tell us whose page is affected. It was only finding some of them. It looked for two languages pointing at the same constant, and it required that constant to be written in capitals — which was an accident rather than a decision. Three other ways of writing exactly the same thing were invisible to it, including one where the author had left a comment on the line saying, in as many words, 'this is a fallback'. The check read the code and ignored the note. 672 of these were hidden. Most sit in tools no town in that language uses yet, which is a queue rather than a problem. Five were somebody's actual page, and those are now translated: the moving-in calculator in Aarhus, the power board in Paramaribo and the weather warnings in Groningen, the Smiltynė ferry in Klaipėda, the UV index in Tavira, and the wind chill in Kapuskasing. Two things the check now deliberately does not report, both found by testing the new rules against the real site before shipping them. A value of 'false' shared by five languages is not five people reading English — in the tool it came from, it means those languages write the time on a 24-hour clock, and that is correct. And a comment can only speak for the language it names: one tool keeps thirteen languages on a single line with two comments on it, and reading the first one made three wrong statements out of one true one. Aarhus also moved to Danish today, and doing it properly turned out to mean more than the check covers. Headings come from the code; the actual sentences on a tool page live in that tool's own settings, and they do not move when the language does. Flipping the switch alone would have given Aarhus Danish headings over English paragraphs. All four of its tools were translated through, about 1,800 words, along with the tool names and the line at the top of the town page. Four other towns are in that half-translated state right now and are on the list.
Three tools, and the first one exists because of something we noticed in the search data: nobody in San Luis Obispo searches for their sewer bill. That is not because the bill is simple. It is because the rule that sets it is invisible. **Your sewer cap** is the most water you will be charged sewer on in any month, and it is your household average across December, January and February. The city measures it from 1 December to 10 March, and the number it gets governs your bills for the whole year starting 1 July 2027 — four months after the measuring stops. Turning off the irrigation during those fourteen weeks is worth real money, and by April there is nothing left to do about it. The page shows where we are in that cycle, what your cap would be, and the part that actually decides whether it costs you anything: a lower cap only saves you money in the months you would have gone above it. If you would not have, we say so instead of pretending otherwise. **The Thursday farmers' market** is not rain or shine. Downtown SLO watches the forecast and makes the call by 10 AM on the day, which is the single most useful thing anyone publishes about it and is written on one page in their FAQ. We show the forecast for the hours the market runs and where they post the decision. We never tell you it is cancelled — that is theirs to say, not ours. Also on the page: the street closes to traffic at 5 PM and cars left inside get towed, many stalls are cash-only, and EBT is doubled by Market Match at more than fifty of them. **The noise rules** are the most argued-about thing in town, and two of the things people believe about them are wrong. You are not entitled to a warning first — a citation can be issued the first time someone turns up. And the fines start at $350, double at $700 and $1,000, are doubled again during a safety enhancement zone, and are issued to the property owner separately, which many leases pass straight back to the tenant. There are two different thresholds depending on the hour, and the daytime one is measured fifty feet from the noise itself, not from the property line. The page tells you which one is in force right now. It is written for the person who cannot sleep and for the person hosting, because the accurate answer serves both. One thing we are not building: evacuation zones. The county already does that properly at ReadySLO.org, and during an evacuation two answers are worse than one.
Aarhus har indtil nu været på engelsk, fordi dansk ikke var et sprog, siden kunne. Det blev det den 11. august, da København kom til. Nu er byen flyttet over. Der er to halvdele af sådan et skift, og kun den ene ses i koden. Overskrifter, knapper og etiketter kommer fra sprogtabeller i programmet — dem manglede der tre af, og de er skrevet. Men selve indholdet — indledninger, noter, regler, navnene på de ting du søger efter — ligger i det enkelte værktøjs opsætning, og det følger ikke med. Hvis vi bare havde skiftet sproget på byen, ville du have fået danske overskrifter over engelske afsnit. Så alle fire værktøjer er oversat helt igennem: badevandet, sorteringsguiden, hvad indflytningen koster, og hvem du skal ringe til. Det er omkring 1.800 ord. Værktøjernes navne og beskrivelser er også oversat. Adresserne på siderne er stadig engelske — /is-the-water-safe og de andre. De er links, som nogen kan have gemt, så dem lader vi ligge indtil videre. En ting, vi ikke har rettet, men gerne vil: badevandsklassen på siden er fra maj 2025. Klasserne sættes en gang om året, så der findes sandsynligvis nyere tal. Det ser vi på.
