Planned — Detour: Red Line: Shuttle buses replace service between JFK/UMass and Ashmont the weekend of September 19-20 while personnel perform critical bridge work along the Ashmont branch.
Accessibility: All shuttle buses are accessible to riders with disabilities. However, some buses used during weekday periods will be lift-equipped, coach-style buses. All shuttle buses operating on weekends will be ramp-equipped, low-floor buses. Accessible van service will also be available between JFK/UMass and Ashmont for riders who prefer it. Riders should see station personnel or use a station call box to request accessible van service. Travel times: Riders using shuttle buses during these service changes should budget ample extra travel time. For example, a rider travelling to Park Street from Ashmont should budget at least an additional 30 minutes of travel time in addition to their regular commute. Blue Line

Wonderland to Bowdoin.

Accessibility issue: Bowdoin Escalator 125 (Lobby to street) is unavailable until further notice, pending replacement.
The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

Why a trip can run slow with no alert

Some stretches of track have permanent speed restrictions ("slow zones") while they're repaired, so a ride can take longer even when no alert is posted. The MBTA lists this work on its Track Improvement page.

The Green Line runs as four branches

The Green Line splits into the B, C, D and E branches west of downtown, so an alert often names just one branch. The Mattapan Trolley is a short line connecting Ashmont (Red Line) to Mattapan.

Reduced service: Orange Line: Service is suspended between Oak Grove and Back Bay through August 30. Riders can use shuttles between Oak Grove and North Station, and the Green Line between North Station and Copley/Back Bay.

Scope of Work: Crews will replace and upgrade the track area at Chinatown while also upgrading signals at Wellington and North Station which will strengthen service reliability. Local Shuttle Service: Free and accessible shuttle buses will service all stations between Oak Grove and North Station. Express Shuttle Service: Free and accessible shuttles will service Oak Grove, Malden Center, Wellington, and North Station. Accessible Vans: Accessible vans will be available at all Orange Line stations between Back Bay and Oak Grove, as well as Copley on the Green Line. See station personnel for assistance. Travel Times: Riders using the shuttles should budget extra travel time. For example, a rider traveling to Downtown Crossing from Oak Grove should budget at least an additional 70 minutes of travel time in addition to their regular commute. Commuter Rail Alternates: Riders are encouraged to consider the Haverhill Commuter Rail Line for fare-free service to and from Oak Grove, Malden Center, and North Station. Regular fares should be purchased beyond Oak Grove.
