Every year, moving trucks too tall for Boston's riverside parkways get their roofs sheared off by a low bridge — locals call it getting Storrowed, and it peaks on the September 1 moving day. Storrow Drive, Soldiers Field Road and Memorial Drive are for cars only.

A car is fine on the parkways.
A passenger car is allowed. Trucks, vans and buses are not — this is the one time being small helps.
If you can't take the parkways
DCR posts a height limit of about 10 feet on these parkways, dropping to as low as 9 feet at some overpasses. But the rule is simpler than any number: trucks, box trucks, vans and buses are not allowed on them at all.

Overpasses run as low as ~9 ft. DCR runs a 'Storrowing' awareness campaign every August ahead of move-in day.
