Firewood for the winter in Yaremche
1 000 ₴–1 400 ₴ per solid m³, by wood group
Forestry price list of 31 August 2026. Measure the pile, then ask what the quote means.
How much wood your winter takes, what it costs at the state forestry's published prices, and why a cheap fresh-cut load is not cheap.
Most firewood bought from the state forestry goes wrong in one of two quiet ways. The price is for a solid cubic metre, but the pile you can measure with a tape is stacked, and holds less wood than its volume. And a fresh-cut load gives about two fifths of the heat of the same wood dry, so the cheaper-looking load can cost more to keep a house warm. This page does the sums with the seller's own published prices and its own heat table, so you can see both before you order. It is arithmetic on what you type, not a quote: your forestry office sets the price you pay.
Last winter’s pile is the best answer there is, or the load you are thinking of ordering.

The same warmth from other wood
Every row gives exactly as much heat as your load above. Rows are in the seller’s order, not cheapest first: which wood you can burn depends on your stove and chimney.

Seller: ДП «Ліси України» (Forests of Ukraine, the state forest enterprise)
These are the company's national group prices for fuelwood at its upper (forest) warehouse, with VAT and without loading or delivery. The company says its prices differ by region, and that in the Carpathians they are usually below the average; the Carpathian office's own price list for Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast is a social-media post, which could not be read for this page. So treat the table as the ceiling of what to expect and type your office's quote in the price box above when you have it. Its release of 29 May 2026 gave groups II and III as 1 100 and 950 UAH, and the 31 August release gives 1 150 and 1 000; group I is 1 400 in both.
On 29 May 2026 the company said prices for the population would stay unchanged to the end of the 2026/27 heating season, provided fuel, services and logistics costs do not jump.

How the heat is counted
The heat figures are the seller's own: kWh in one solid cubic metre of each wood, once at 12% moisture (long-seasoned or dried) and once at 50% (fresh from the forest). They are heat in the wood, before the stove. A stove or boiler turns part of it into warmth in your rooms, and that share is the same on every row of the comparison, so the page leaves it out and the comparison still holds. The shop's table has no spruce or fir, although the company says these and beech are most of what the Carpathian offices have. The spruce-and-fir row uses the lowest figure the table lists for their price group (poplar and willow), so the page errs towards telling you to buy more. There is no figure here for wood at 20-30% moisture, the state of a pile that has stood a summer under cover; it lies between the two columns, and nothing published says where.
How much one person can order
The company says each citizen can order 15 m³ of firewood a year, from the state shop and from its forestry offices alike. That is stated per citizen. The sellers' pages do not say how it applies to a household, so if your winter takes more than one person's 15 m³, ask the office how it counts.
How to buy it officially
- Online: drovae.gov.ua, the company's shop for households. You sign in with ID.GOV.UA (through your bank), enter the address the wood should go to, and the shop offers the nearest suppliers. Choose the wood and the amount, send the order, and the supplier calls to confirm. Then you pay online. If you want it delivered, the forestry agrees the delivery price with you and you pay that separately.
- In person: go to a forestry office or надлісництво with your passport and your tax ID number (РНОКПП). You sign an application to join the company's public offer, get the payment details, pay at the office's terminal, at a bank or post office, or by online banking, and then agree the day and place to collect.
- Whichever way, the price on the quote is for the wood at the warehouse. Loading and delivery are extra.
- The company advises buying early, so the wood can dry and give more heat. The comparison above shows why.
Forestry offices near the town
The company's list of offices has none in Yaremche itself, and nothing published says which of them serves the forests around the town, so ask when you ring. The shop at drovae.gov.ua proposes suppliers by the delivery address you give it, which settles the question without a call. The full list, for every oblast, is on the company's «Купити дрова» page.
