The predicted tide, not the water you'll see
These are astronomical predictions — the tide the sun and moon set. A strong wind up the canal or a big low-pressure system can push the real level higher or lower, and shift the timing. Heights are above mean lower low water (MLLW) — roughly the average lowest tide — not above the dock or the sand. Times are local (AKDT). NOAA's prediction point sits in Passage Canal at Whittier, about a mile from the small-boat harbor — the closest official station to town, so the harbor water follows it closely.
Predictions, not measurements
These are astronomical tide predictions. Wind, air pressure and storm surge can push the real water level well above or below them — in bad weather, check the National Weather Service forecast and warnings at weather.gov before trusting a number here. In an emergency on or near the water, call 911, or hail the U.S. Coast Guard on marine VHF channel 16. Whittier Harbor monitors VHF 16 and works on 68 (907-472-2327).
