What a Berth in Whittier Costs

The harbour's published fees added up for your own boat — moorage, launching, parking, power and the tunnel toll, with the tax as its own line.

About these tools

Town Tools builds free, public tools for Whittier and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

Whittier's harbour is run by the city, and every fee it charges is published. They are just published in four different places — a fee schedule, a moorage agreement, a wait-list application and the harbour page — so most people find out what a season costs when the bills arrive.

Put your boat's length in and this adds the published rates up, line by line, so you can check each one against the city's own schedule.

These are the published rates

Every figure on this page is copied from the fee schedule named at the bottom. Rates are set by the harbour’s own authority and can change.

The city's fee schedule prints no effective date and no ordinance number — its "2025 RATE" and "2026 RATE" column headings are the only dating it carries. The rates below are the 2026 column. The city's own moorage agreement says rates are set by ordinance and can change, so check with the harbour office before you count on a figure.

Work out your year

Put in your boat’s length, then how you’ll use the harbour. Every line shows its own arithmetic, so you can check it against the published rates below.

Boat length overall (ft)

Moorage, dry storage and the grid are all charged per foot of overall length. Slips go up to 60 ft.

How you keep the boat

Pick the one that matches how you actually use the harbour. Reserved moorage is billed for the calendar year, not prorated by season.

Reserved (preferential) moorage — $84.46 per ft, a year

Jan 1 – Dec 31. This is the permanent-berth product, and it is the one with a wait list.

Summer months (Apr–Sep) ($19.25 per ft, a month)

Summer days ($1.34 per ft, a day)

Transient moorage, winter season — $56.62 per ft, a season

Oct 1 – Mar 31, charged once for the whole season.

Months ashore (Oct 1 – Apr 1) ($4.80 per ft, a month)

Launching

For a boat you trailer in rather than berth. The ramp fee is per round trip.

Getting here: the tunnel toll

The Anton Anderson tunnel is the only road in. The toll is charged one way only — on the way in to Whittier — so one toll covers a round trip. It is a state charge, not a harbour fee, and the city's sales tax does not apply to it.

$564.00

Harbour fees are taxable. The 5% rate is printed on the city's own harbour paperwork — the grid use agreement states "NOTE: Tax of 5%", and the wait-list form says the fee is "$50 plus tax". A total without it would be short.
