Sibu loses about 46% of the water it treats before it reaches anybody. The town is built on deep peat, the peat settles, and the mains break as it moves — which is why a cut in one part of town tells you very little about the next. That is the gap this board is for: if you have no water, tap your area, and you and your neighbours can see whether it is just your tank or the whole area.
Reports need a sign-in, one per area per person, and they clear themselves after twelve hours. This is neighbours reporting to neighbours — it is not Sarawak Water, and tapping an area does not report a fault to anyone. Ring 013-810 6311 to do that.

How this works
Two treatment plants supply the town: Salim, rated at 150 million litres a day and being doubled to 300 under a Sarawak-funded upgrade, and Bukit Lima at 45 million litres a day. Work on the Salim upgrade is itself a regular cause of night-time cuts. The losses are the harder problem. Roughly 46% of the water leaving those plants never reaches a customer — non-revenue water, most of it leaking from mains that crack as the peat beneath them settles. Sibu is sinking slowly, and its pipes move with it. That is a decades-long replacement job, not a repair, and it is the reason cuts here are frequent, local and hard to predict.
