Your recycling cart goes out the next working day after garbage — so a Friday garbage day means recycling the following Monday. Recycling is run by Circular Materials (through GFL), not the City.
On a statutory holiday, collection moves one day later for the rest of that week. If your day falls before the holiday that week, nothing changes. Those shifts are already worked into the dates above.
An unusual week can still shift a collection by a day. The city’s own calendar is always the last word.

These are the things people most often put in recycling by mistake — in the Soo they go in the garbage.
Collected every two weeks in season, on your regular collection day — but the A/B route split depends on your address, so check the city calendar for your weeks. Use biodegradable paper bags only, up to 20 kg (44 lb) each; no branches and no animal waste. The free Leaf & Yard bunker at the landfill (402 Fifth Line East) is open roughly late April to mid-October, Tuesday–Saturday.
Household Hazardous Waste Depot — 402 Fifth Line East
Seasonal: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Tuesday–Saturday, roughly April 21 to October 17. Takes paints, car & household batteries, propane tanks, motor oil, pesticides, aerosols, fluorescent tubes, electronics and pharmaceuticals — labelled and sealed. Never goes out at the curb.
City Landfill — 402 Fifth Line East
8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Monday–Friday most of the year, and Monday–Saturday from late April to mid-October. General-public gate fee $13.25 for up to 300 kg, then $9.20 per 100 kg over. On-site stations take metal, tires, electronics, batteries & propane, concrete & brick, cardboard, wood & brush, and leaf & yard waste (free).
