On June 7, 2026 the city's seven bus routes became four loops — Hillside, Citywide, Westside and Eastside. If you're relearning the system, this is the plain version: what it costs, how to pay, where the buses meet, and when they don't run.

Four loops — Hillside, Citywide, Westside and Eastside — plus the Central Community Bus and the Pointe des Chenes and Hiawatha routes. Daytime buses run about every 15 minutes between downtown, Cambrian Mall, Algoma University and the Northern Transfer Hub by Sault College; evenings run roughly hourly. The tradeoff residents flagged during consultation is that some stops are now a longer walk.
See live bus times on the city's online trip planner and in the free Transit app — this page is the how-it-works layer, not a live tracker.
Evening buses run roughly hourly. After 9 p.m. (or once it's dark), the Evening Preferred Stop Program lets you ask the driver to let you off between regular stops, closer to home.
Fares and schedules change — the operator’s own pages and phone line are the last word.
Town Tools builds free, public tools for Sault Ste. Marie and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.
