Ohrid's beaches are graded for bathing-water quality by the local public-health centre through the summer. This page shows each beach's published grade in plain words, and — because a grade is measured on a calm day — a live read of how much rain has fallen, since stormwater and the odd sewer overflow can change the water the same afternoon.

Ohrid's health authority recommends swimming only where the water is graded Class I or II. Grašnica, on the south-west edge, is graded Class III — it is the one beach to skip.

Lake Ohrid's worst swimming days come after heavy rain. Stormwater washes off the streets into the lake, and the ageing Ohrid–Struga sewer collector can overflow during a power cut — residents have documented sewage reaching the shore near Kaneo and the centre in mid-season. The grades on this page were measured on calm days, so treat the day or two after a storm as worse than they show, most of all at Grašnica, the stormwater discharge point.

The Center for Public Health in Ohrid re-samples the beaches roughly every two weeks through the summer, so a grade can move up or down between visits. The grades here are from the June 2026 round; check the source below for the latest.
