Trails and accesses

OpenRajamala tourism zone · AreaEntry by ticket: a forest-department bus up the hill, then a walkway. Queues of 90 minutes happen even on weekdays in season, so go early; from August 2026 online booking is time-slotted.

It closes every year for tahr calving

The park closes fully in late winter so Nilgiri tahr can calve undisturbed. In 2026 that meant February and March, reopening on 1 April with 841 tahr counted, including 144 newborns.

The window is announced each year by the Forest Department — don't assume this year's dates hold next year.
