Moose Jaw is one of fourteen Canadian communities in the Rural Community Immigration Pilot — a route to permanent residence for people already working here, or with a job offer from a local business that has been approved to use it. It matters more here than most things on this page: the city's population has barely moved since 2016, and around 160 designated local employers now make the pilot the single largest force on who lives in Moose Jaw next.

1 · You
Nobody does this part for you, and the Chamber says so plainly: candidates find their own employment. If you are already working for a Moose Jaw business, you do not need a new job offer — your current employer can apply for you. The offer has to be full-time, non-seasonal, with no end date, and paid at or above the Job Bank's minimum wage for that occupation in this region.
2 · The employer
Before it can put anyone forward, the business has to hold a valid Certificate of Registration with the Province of Saskatchewan, complete the Chamber's onboarding and intercultural-competency training, and be approved. If your employer is not designated yet, this is the step to ask them about — it is theirs to start, not yours.
3 · The employer
The employer files on your behalf during a monthly window. Incomplete submissions are rejected and handed back to the employer, who can fix them and resubmit in a later window — which costs a month, so gather your documents before the window opens rather than during it.
4 · The community
Up to twelve recommendations go out per window, first come first served. An answer usually arrives within four to six weeks. A recommendation is a certificate from the community — it is not permanent residence and it does not guarantee it.
5 · You
With the recommendation in hand you apply through IRCC's Permanent Residence Portal, inside the six months the certificate is valid for. This is where the federal requirements below are actually assessed. You can also apply for a two-year RCIP work permit so you can keep working while the application is processed.
