Type your address for your garbage zone and your recycling zone. They run on different days, and the same zone number means a different weekday for each.

This still hasn’t loaded. It looks stuck rather than slow, so reloading is worth a try now.
Moose Jaw’s streets come in halves — 1210 3rd Ave NE and 1210 3rd Ave NW are different addresses in different zones on different days — so if your address ends in a direction, type it. If you leave it off and the city’s records show more than one, this page will ask which one you meant rather than guess.
Setting out your cart
Leave three feet of clear space
Three feet (1 metre) around the cart in every direction — from other carts, fences, power poles, buildings and parked vehicles. The driver never leaves the truck, so a cart the arm cannot reach is a cart that gets skipped.
Wheels to the curb, lid closed, arrows to the street
Point the lid arrows toward the street or lane and keep the lid shut. Don’t put the cart on the sidewalk. Don’t put it on or behind a snowbank either — if there is a bank along the curb, set the cart a little further out instead.
In a rear lane or a cul-de-sac
In a lane, carts go on the power-pole side with the wheels toward the fence, and not on the lane surface. In a cul-de-sac, line the carts up from the centre of the circle out toward the main street, all facing the same way and three feet apart.
Nothing beside the cart gets taken
Extra material left beside or on top of the cart is not collected, bagged or not, and can carry a penalty under the Waste Bylaw. A cart holding the wrong material, or set out wrongly, may be tagged and left until the next collection day once the problem is fixed.
Worth knowing
Weekly in summer, every second week the rest of the year
Garbage is collected every week through June, July, August, September and October, and every second week from 1 November to 31 May. Recycling is every second week all year round. So the weekday below is right whatever the season — what changes in winter is that only every other one of those days is yours, and the collection calendar is what tells you which.
Moose Jaw does not skip a holiday the way many cities do: the 2026 calendar runs normal routes on Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Saskatchewan Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day. Christmas Day is the exception — it falls on a Friday in 2026, and Friday’s routes moved up to Thursday 24 December instead. Check the calendar around Christmas and New Year, and nowhere else.
If your cart was missed
Report it within 24 hours of your collection day, through the City of Moose Jaw app or the city’s Report an Issue form. Collection is also called off outright in a blizzard and rescheduled afterwards, and the city posts each change. For anything else about collection, call 306-694-4448 or email contactoperations@moosejaw.ca.
Household hazardous waste, twice a year
Aerosol cans, liquid household cleaners, batteries and lightbulbs are taken free at the City Complex, 1010 High St W, from 9 am to 3 pm on two days a year — one in spring, one in late summer. In 2026 they were 2 May and 29 August. Seal the containers, carry them in open-top boxes rather than tied bags, and close the valve on any propane tank.
Your zone comes live from the Moose Jaw open-data map service, matching the address you type against the city’s own address records. The map can be revised; the official record is always the city’s Let’s Talk Trash page. Garbage and Recycling are separate routes on separate maps, and they are read separately — the same zone number can fall on a different day for each.
The city publishes an interactive map you can search by address. It is drawn from the same records this page reads, and it is the official one.
Town Tools builds free, public tools for Moose Jaw and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.
