When Moose Jaw gets snow, crews clear streets in a set order — not first-come, first-served. Here's the order, and roughly how long each tier takes.
The standard
After 5 cm of snow in 24 hours, the city starts clearing by priority.
Streets are cleared in priority order, not all at once. Find your street’s tier below.
These are the city’s targets, not guarantees

Arterial roads and key emergency corridors — the routes fire, ambulance and police depend on, including the connections to Highways 1, 2 and 363.
For example: Main Street, 9th Avenue NW, Thatcher Drive, the routes past the hospital and fire hall
within 24 hours of the snow stopping
Transit bus routes and the downtown core, including metered parking areas.
For example: streets a Moose Jaw Transit route runs on, River Street and the downtown core
within 60 hours of the snow stopping
Collector roads, school access routes, and routes to city facilities — including streets with known drainage issues.
For example: the street connecting your neighbourhood to a main road, routes past a school
within 96 hours of the snow stopping
Everything else — ordinary residential streets — cleared as crews become free, once Priorities 1 through 3 are done.
For example: a quiet residential street away from a bus route or school
after Priorities 1–3 are done; the City states no fixed hour target for this tier, since it depends on snow depth and how busy crews still are
Measured from the moment the snow stops — targets, in priority order.
Heavy snowfall: 10 cm or more
10 cm or more in one event — or two snowfalls close together — can reset or extend the clearing clock; extreme conditions that make it unsafe to deploy crews do the same. Check the City's Snow Centre page for the current status before assuming a tier's clock is already running.
The ridge of snow a plow leaves at the end of your driveway is your own responsibility to clear if it's 20 cm or less; the City clears anything higher than that. On Priority 2–4 streets, the City keeps the windrow off the sidewalk (no more than half a metre onto it) and keeps one on-street parking space per residence clear where it can.
Sidewalks and school-bus zones are cleared on the same priority order as the streets they run alongside.
