"When should I come, and where do I park?" is the most-asked question about Leavenworth. The short answer: weekdays and January–February are calm; festival weekends and December afternoons are packed. When downtown is full — by late morning on any event weekend — park free at the Wilkommen Park-and-Ride (200 Ward Strasse, behind Safeway, 89 spaces) or the Leavenworth Park-and-Ride (990 US Hwy 2, 43 spaces) and ride the free Link Transit Route 32 shuttle in; it runs about every 30 minutes.

December weekend afternoons are the busiest of the year, with long US-2 backups. Temporary parking bans go up on Pine, Ski Hill, Evans, Commercial, Burke and Cedar. Come on a weekday or in January, or park-and-ride in.
