Iqaluit's spring festival since 1965 — a week of igloo-building, snowmobile and dog-team races, on-the-land skills, community feasts and the crowning of the honorary Toonik. It marks the return of the light and the warming of the land.

Nunavut's summer music and arts festival, around National Indigenous Peoples Day under the long northern light — Inuit and circumpolar musicians, throat singers, drum dancers and visiting acts. The dates shift each year; recent editions run for several days in late June.

A national day marking the cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, held on the summer solstice. In Iqaluit the Recreation Department runs the Jimmy Kilabuk Fun Run/Walk at Sylvia Grinnell Park, a community feast at the town square, elders' bingo and a pool party at the Aquatic Centre.

Friday, 9 July 2027 · Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.
The territory's own holiday, marking the 1993 Nunavut Land Claims Agreement that created Nunavut. Nunavut Tunngavik hosts a gathering at the Nakasuk School grounds — a community barbecue, bannock and country food for elders, speeches and live music.
A statutory holiday across Nunavut: government offices and most services close, and some streets near the gathering are closed to traffic for the day.
