Water in Gjirokastër is much better than it used to be. An €8.2m German–Swiss rebuild, finished in October 2023, replaced the old rusted mains, and the national regulator now records supply at about 22 hours a day — good by Albanian standards, where only around 19 municipalities reach a full 24 hours.
But the memory of scheduled cuts is recent, and short interruptions still happen, especially high up the hill and during works or storms.
