This still hasn’t loaded. It looks stuck rather than slow, so reloading is worth a try now.
Town Tools builds free, public tools for Gjirokastër and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

Water in Gjirokastër is much better than it used to be. An €8.2m German–Swiss rebuild, finished in October 2023, replaced the old rusted mains, and the national regulator now records supply at about 22 hours a day — good by Albanian standards, where only around 19 municipalities reach a full 24 hours.
But the memory of scheduled cuts is recent, and short interruptions still happen, especially high up the hill and during works or storms. This board is for the honest question when your tap runs dry: is it just my building, or is the water off across my neighbourhood? Sign in and tap your quarter to say the water is off; reports fade on their own after a few hours, so the board stays current without anyone tidying it.

These reports come from neighbours, not the water utility. Anyone can read the board; reporting no water takes a free account, which keeps it honest. A report clears itself after about 8 hours, so the board stays current on its own. When several people report the same sector, it’s likely the whole sector is dry — not just one tank.
The water utility — Ujësjellës Kanalizime Gjirokastër (UKGJ)
The town's water utility. Planned cuts and works are announced on the municipality's website and Facebook page; this board does not replace those official notices.
Gjirokastër's tap water comes through the rebuilt UKGJ network and is generally treated mains water. If UKGJ or the municipality post a boil-water notice after a burst or during works, follow it until they lift it — this board is for whether the water is flowing, not for its quality.
