Dingle (Daingean Uí Chúis) sits at the far western end of its peninsula, reached by just two roads and served by turn-up-and-go buses — there is no train to the town itself. None of the buses need booking, but the last ones back leave earlier than most people expect, so the one thing worth planning is the way out.
Plan your way back before you set off
There is no train. The buses out leave in the late afternoon, and missing the last one means staying the night. Note your last bus before you arrive:

About ten buses a day each way, roughly every two hours, via Camp, Annascaul and Lispole on the N86. Tralee is also the nearest train station, so this is the link to the rail network — but the last train out of Tralee leaves well before the last bus, so check both if you are heading onward the same day.

Two roads in — and the Conor Pass is not one for big vehicles
There are two ways onto the peninsula's tip: the main N86 through Camp and Annascaul (the road the buses use), and the R560 over the Conor Pass — one of Ireland's highest mountain roads, single-track in places with signed weight and size limits. The pass is not suitable for buses, HGVs or large campervans and is best avoided in fog, ice or high wind. If you are driving something large, take the N86.
Winter services are lighter, and Atlantic storms can disrupt them
Sunday and off-season timetables are thinner than the summer ones, and named Atlantic storms (Storm Éowyn hit hard in early 2025) can cut services at short notice. In rough weather, check the operator's page or the TFI app before relying on a bus.

A handful of return trips daily, seven days a week, via Castlemaine, Inch, Annascaul and Lispole. This is the direct link from Killarney (itself on the rail network), but the last bus back to Killarney leaves much earlier in the day than the Tralee bus, so a day trip this way needs an early eye on the return.
