The property-tax tool gained interactive exemption toggles: tick the ones that apply to you and it takes them off the taxed value before the rate, so the estimate reflects what you'd actually pay rather than the sticker figure. First used in Galena, Illinois for its stacking homestead and senior exemptions; it's reusable for other places whose exemptions work the same way.
When your tap runs dry, the first question is usually whether it's just your tank or the whole ward. The new board lets neighbours answer that for each other: tap your ward if your water is off, and if several people report the same one, it shows as likely area-wide. Reports clear themselves after a while, so the board stays current. It's a neighbour signal, not MUWSA — the 24-hour toll-free fault line (0800 110074) is there for reporting a burst or an official fix. Covers all 21 wards.
Illinois bills are figured in an awkward way — a third of your home's value, minus the exemptions you qualify for, times the combined rate of every district you're in. The new tool walks all three steps for you. Pick whether you're inside the city or out in the Territory, tick the exemptions that apply (owner-occupied, 65-or-older, disability), and it shows the estimate broken down by district — schools, city, county and the rest. It's a planning estimate; your real bill and exact rate come from Jo Daviess County, and there's a link to look up your own parcel.

Tool pages now keep a slim bar at the top of the screen as you scroll: the link back to the town page on the left, and a Tools menu on the right that jumps straight to any of the town's other tools. Before this, getting anywhere else meant scrolling all the way up to a small link or all the way down past the footer. Nothing else changed — the same tools, just easier to move between, especially on a phone.

The Recent Earthquakes tool can now read Veðurstofan's (the Icelandic Met Office) live catalogue, which records the small daily quakes in Iceland's seismic zones that global feeds miss. First used in Selfoss; reusable for any Icelandic town.

Heimaey, in the Vestmannaeyjar islands, is now on Town Tools. Because the Herjólfur ferry runs everyone's day, it opens with live crossing conditions — the wind and waves between Heimaey and Landeyjahöfn, in plain words — alongside the published ferry schedule (with the last boat home worked out from your clock, the resident discount, and the Þorlákshöfn reroute), and a who-to-call card with the after-hours health line. A puffling-season tally and a live which-harbour indicator are on the backlog.
Akureyri, at the head of Eyjafjörður, is the first Icelandic town on Town Tools. It opens with a live winter road-conditions page for the passes out of town — Öxnadalsheiði toward Reykjavík, Víkurskarð and the Vaðlaheiðargöng tunnel — read from Vegagerðin's own road service; a Daylight Today page that tracks the big swing of light at 65.7°N; and a who-to-call card.
