Cairo Metro charges by how many stations you travel, not how far. That makes the fare easy to state and hard to work out: four bands across 84 stations on three lines, and the same trip can land either side of a price step depending on where you change. Pick where you get on and where you get off, and this counts the stations for you and shows the route it counted.

How stations are counted: The operator's own price list gives the four bands as 9, 16, 23 and 39 stations. It does not say whether that count includes the station you get on at — we looked on the fare page, the FAQ and the passenger pages on 29 July 2026 and the rule is not published anywhere. It is published for monthly subscriptions, where the zones are counted from the boarding station to the arrival station inclusive, but subscriptions are priced differently and that rule may not carry over. So this tool counts the stations between your two stations, and where the two ways of counting would put you in different bands it shows both prices instead of choosing one.
Changing line: Changing between the three metro lines is included — you do not buy a second ticket, and the change does not add to the number of stations you are charged for. The five places you can change are Al Shohadaa and Sadat (Line 1 to Line 2), Attaba (Line 2 to Line 3), Gamal Abdel Nasser (Line 1 to Line 3) and Cairo University (Line 2 to Line 3). Kit Kat is where Line 3's two branches meet.

Trains run from 05:00 to midnight. During Ramadan they run from 05:00 to 02:00.

Line 3 splits in two at Kit Kat. This is the branch that opened on 1 January 2024, running north-west to Rod El Farag Corridor.
Line 3's other branch, open since 15 May 2024. Trains alternate between the two branches at Kit Kat, so going this way usually means changing there or waiting for the right train — which is why this tool counts it as a change.
