Official tide predictions for Tofino harbour — today's highs and lows and the week ahead, the difference between a beach walk and getting cut off.
About these tools
Town Tools builds free, public tools for Tofino and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

Tofino's tides swing several metres. They decide when you can walk to Frank Island, paddle to Meares Island for the Lone Cone or Big Tree trails, and how the beach breaks read — and they cut people off who didn't check. These are the official Canadian Hydrographic Service predictions for the Tofino station.
The water is cold all year
Surface temperatures run roughly 8–15°C. A wetsuit isn't optional for time in the water, and rip currents are real on the open beaches — check the surf conditions tool and the lifeguard flags in summer.

Heights are above chart datum — roughly the lowest tide on the nautical charts — not above the wharf deck or the street. Times are local (PDT). The Tofino station sits in the harbour. Open-coast beaches (Long Beach, Cox Bay, Chesterman) turn a little later, but the highs and lows track closely. Frank Island off South Chesterman and the Meares Island routes are only reachable around low tide — plan the return before you go.
Predictions, not measurements
These are astronomical tide predictions. Wind, air pressure and storm surge can push the real water level well above or below them — in bad weather, check the Environment Canada forecast and warnings at weather.gc.ca before trusting a number here. In an emergency on or near the water, call 911, or hail the Coast Guard on marine VHF channel 16.
