Around Teriberka the nights are dark enough for aurora roughly from early September to mid-April. During the midnight-sun weeks (about mid-May to late July) the sky never gets dark, so there is nothing to see then; the longest, darkest viewing nights are November to March, which is when most winter visitors come.

At 69 degrees north on the Barents Sea coast, Teriberka lies beneath the ring where the northern lights form on most clear winter nights. Because of that, even quiet space weather (a low Kp) can be enough for a display overhead here — you do not need a big geomagnetic storm the way you would further south.
The main obstacle on this coast is the maritime sky, which is often cloudy. A night with strong space weather but full cloud shows nothing; a quiet, clear night can still deliver a good show. Watch the cloud forecast as closely as the space-weather number.
Aurora season runs September to April, best November to March when the nights are longest. December 1 to January 12 is the polar night, dark almost around the clock. Whale-watching is the summer draw (roughly May to July, occasional winter sightings in the bay); the northern lights are the winter one.
