Not soon, and the current government process is closing it down, not reopening it. A "safe closure" programme started in October 2025 passed its final regulatory inspection in July 2026, with only the open-pit access road left to block before the mining licence can be surrendered — that is remediation finishing, not production resuming.
Separately, a Toronto-listed company, Premium Nickel Resources, bought the Selebi mine site from the liquidator in 2022 and has been drilling toward a feasibility study, with an announced ambition to invest around P5 billion. That is real, but it is exploration-stage — nobody has committed to reopening the mine, and no start date has been announced.
