Sagada is reached over mountain road: the Dantay–Sagada spur down to the Halsema Highway, about six hours from Baguio — or eastward through Bontoc towards Banaue. In the wet season, the question before any trip is what the weather is doing along the way, not just in town. This page reads a weather model at five points on that corridor. It cannot see landslides or closures — check the official channels first.

Whether the Halsema or the Sagada road is open is decided on the ground: the DPWH clears and closes national roads, and the municipality and the province announce local closures. Their advisories — not this page — are the road status.

Every figure here is a weather model’s estimate for an area, not a rain gauge and not a road camera. A model cannot see a landslide, a rockfall, roadworks or a closure.
Rain and landslides do not line up neatly here. In August 2024 the Halsema's roadbed gave way at Pilando, Buguias, after days of rain; in November 2025, Super Typhoon Uwan cut the Baguio–Bontoc road and the Dantay–Sagada road at the same time. A clear morning in Sagada says nothing about a slide two hours down the road — and no weather model can see one coming.
This page describes the weather along the corridor. It cannot say whether the road is open, and it is never a judgement that driving is safe.
Sagada's rains run roughly June to October — typhoon season — and that is when landslides close sections of the Halsema and the asphalt turns slippery. The dry months, November to April, are the corridor at its kindest. The municipality's standing advice stands all year: do not drive the mountain sections at night.

When Super Typhoon Uwan crossed Luzon in November 2025, landslides blocked the Baguio–Bontoc Road and the Dantay–Sagada Road among dozens of Cordillera routes — and the eastern way out through Banaue was cut too. That is why residents wait for the clearing crews' word rather than trying another way around.

GL Trans runs Baguio–Sagada from the Dangwa terminal, about six hours over the Halsema — around six trips a day from early morning, cash only, no advance booking. Coda Lines comes the other way from Manila via Banaue and Bontoc, about twelve hours, leaving in the evening. In storm weather both wait on the same clearing crews everyone else does.
