How to read this map

Police street-level data is anonymized: each point is snapped to an approximate map location — a nearby street or landmark — and never an exact address. It shows where incidents have been reported, not where they're happening right now, and it is not a live tracker.
The data runs roughly 6 to 8 weeks behind, and this is reported crime only — much of it is never reported, and most reported cases go unsolved.

What helps

This board is reported history, not a live alert — if something is happening right now, call 999.
A report only counts if it reaches the police. If you see the same problem on the same street more than once, reporting it each time is what gets that location looked at.

Local notes

Why anti-social behaviour, not "all crime"

Residents' own accounts of the town centre are specifically about safety and disorder — begging, open drug use, groups causing trouble — not shoplifting or burglary rates. This board tracks that one category on its own, so it can't be diluted by an otherwise-quiet month for property crime.

What this can and can't tell you

A cluster of pins is a cluster of reports, not proof a street is unsafe — some of that clustering is simply where reports get made, near shops, transport and the town centre itself. Read it alongside your own judgement, not instead of it.
