This page is not an alert system
Evacuation decisions come from official warnings — the QFD Current Bushfires and Warnings site and the warning issued for your area, starting with QFD Current Bushfires and Warnings. If life or property is threatened, call Triple Zero (000) immediately. This page updates every few minutes at best and only shows what the incident feed has published.

Worth knowing
The town has been threatened before
In September 2020 a 'Watch and Act' bushfire at Balmoral Ridge, on Maleny's eastern fringe, forced evacuation orders for residents east of Sinclairs Lane. Fire and Emergency warned that firefighters might not be able to protect every property — the reminder behind the town's own Get Ready Maleny plan.
Smoke isn't always a bushfire
Some of what you see here are planned hazard-reduction burns, lit on purpose to lower the fire risk. They're listed separately and marked as planned burns, not wildfires. Smoke can still affect people with asthma or heart conditions — keep windows closed and medication handy.
The fire season here
The bushfire season on the range runs roughly July to February, drying out as winter ends. One road in and out means leaving early on a bad fire day is far safer than leaving late.
