Guildford's car parks don't all charge the same way, and the rules aren't obvious. Pick how long you're staying and when you're arriving, and this shows the cheapest options — the short-stay car parks near the shops, the cheaper long-stay multi-storeys, and the Park & Ride. Figures are Guildford Borough Council's published Monday-to-Saturday tariffs, including the flat evening rate and the free-after-10pm rule. Sunday is charged differently again: 11am to 5pm only, and the all-day cap at York Road and Farnham Road drops from £10 to £8.

Closest for the theatre and the riverside, and its blue-badge bays are free. Flat brackets, with the same 5pm–6pm rule as the Castle. Running on reduced spaces — about 35 to 40 of its 241 — from 16 May until 31 October 2026 while the National Trust works on the weir. A low-lying spot that can flood.

Guildford Park & Ride
Artington (off the A3100, south of town) and Merrow (Epsom Road, to the east). The Onslow and Spectrum sites are still suspended.
A short bus into the centre — about 8 minutes from Artington, 12 from Merrow. Artington runs every 20 minutes seven days a week; Merrow is Mon–Sat only, roughly every 30 minutes from 7.30am to 7.45pm.

Three rules the tariff boards bury. Evenings: arrive between 6pm and 10pm and it is a flat £2.10 for the visit — at every central car park except Farnham Road, which charges 30p an hour from 7pm to 7am instead. After 10pm: free everywhere but Farnham Road, until charging restarts at 8am. And the 5pm trick: at the Castle, Tunsgate and Millbrook, arrive between 5pm and 6pm, pay the £4.30 daytime charge, and there is nothing more to pay until 8am the next morning.
