Akchour is the day out almost every visitor to Chefchaouen makes — a green river gorge in Talassemtane National Park, about 30 km away. Two walks start from the same trailhead: the short one to God's Bridge, a natural rock arch, and the longer climb up to the Grand Cascade. Shared grand taxis make the run in roughly 45 minutes from the rank below Place Mohammed V, by the police station — about 25 dirhams a seat, leaving when all six seats fill (buy the empty seats if you want to go sooner; a private car is 150–200 dirhams one way). Go early: taxis are easiest to find before 9am, and you will beat both the heat and the crowd.

How much water you'll see depends on the season
The shorter walk: a riverside path to a huge natural rock arch the water carved out over millennia, high above the gorge. Doable in a morning, and the one to pick if you only have a few hours or aren't up for the full climb.
The lower trail runs right beside the river and can flood after heavy winter rain. When the water is high, skip it.
The main event: up the gorge past a lower waterfall to the tall Grand Cascade, with clear pools to swim in along the way. A proper half-day hike, and worth every step when the river is running.
Flow is strongest in spring; by late summer the upper cascade can thin to a trickle while the pools below stay swimmable.
