Generalised the ferry-schedule tool so it fits ferries between two mainland places, not only island crossings (first use: Colonia–Buenos Aires), keeping existing island ferries unchanged. Tourist tax-refund tools now show a one-line 'how much VAT back today' summary on the town page.
Added a movable-feasts kind that computes the dates of festivals tied to the Western Easter calendar (Carnaval, Ash Wednesday) alongside fixed dates — so a town's Carnaval calendar stays correct for years on its own. Also localized the boat-crossing conditions tool into Vietnamese so it can serve non-English coastal towns.
As datas do Carnaval mudam todo ano porque acompanham a Páscoa.
What sea life you're likely to see off Dingle and the Blasket Islands through the year — dolphins, whales, basking sharks, seals, puffins and the cliff seabirds — with the boats that run the trips. Drawn from the local operators' sightings and the Blaskets' protected-area status; it's the seasonal pattern, never a promise.
Pick any day in the next few months and see how crowded town and the Slea Head Drive are likely to be — and the calmest day to come instead — worked out from the day of the week, the season, festivals like the Races and the Food Festival, and the school holidays. With the local parking answer for each level.
A new tool reads the live Vltava level at the gauges upstream of town — Vyšší Brod (about 43 km up) and Zátoň (about 20 km) — next to the town's own Nové Spolí gauge. Because the upstream gauges rise before the water reaches the centre, a climbing reading there is an early sign of a flood pulse heading down the valley. It stays descriptive: the official flood degree is still set by ČHMÚ and the town flood commission, both linked.
Reine sits almost under the auroral belt, but a clear answer to "should I go out tonight?" means weighing three things at once. The new tool puts them together for the nights ahead: NOAA's space-weather model for how active the lights are, the cloud forecast over the genuinely dark hours, and how much real darkness there is — which this far north swings from no darkness at all under the midnight sun to the deep dark of the polar night. It is honest that a good reading is a chance worth checking, never a promise, and it points to the official NOAA forecast.
The forest loop behind town is Kep's best walk and its cheapest day out. The new guide lays out the roughly 8 km circuit, the $1 entry at the booth behind Veranda Natural Resort, the climb up to Sunset Rock over the coast and islands, and the plain practicalities: Led Zep Café near the entrance is the only water, food and toilet on the route, so fill up before you set off, walk in the cooler morning or late afternoon, and finish before the light goes. It also notes the animals honestly — give the forest macaques room and don't feed them, and watch for dogs near the hillside nunnery.
Crab at the market has no fixed price — it is sold by bargaining, and visitors are often charged more than regulars. The new price board is the neighbours' own running figure: anyone who bought at the market can sign in and share what they paid for crab, a cooked plate, squid or prawns, and everyone sees the typical (median) price of recent reports. Reading it needs no account. It starts empty and fills as people report; one or two reports are not a price, so the typical figure only shows once a few have come in. It reports what people paid — not official prices, and not advice on what is fair.
Every tool page now has a Share button at the foot, next to the report and suggest links — so when a tool has been useful, you can send it to someone in your town without scrolling back to the top.
The weather-warnings tool can now read MET Norway's official MetAlerts feed, so Norwegian coastal and mountain towns get the same live storm, wind, rain and snow warnings — in Norwegian, with MET's own wording — that Irish, US and Canadian towns already have. First use: Henningsvær, on the exposed Vestfjorden coast.
The five daily prayer times and the direction of the Qibla for Zawtar, worked out from the sun over the village using the Ja'fari method. No app to download, and the page keeps working without a connection once it has loaded. The start of each Islamic month is still set by moon sighting, and the page says so.
When a tool's text mentions a phone number, an email, or a website, you can now tap it to call, write, or open it — instead of copying it out by hand. This already worked in the questions-and-answers tool; it now works across many more, like local status boards, getting-here guides, and seasonal-road and crossing pages.
The transit-status tool kind gained a third feed format (EFA XML_ADDINFO), so towns whose agency publishes disruptions through an EFA endpoint rather than GTFS-Realtime — like Heidelberg's rnv via VRN — can now have a live service board.
Official Canadian Hydrographic Service tide predictions for Iqaluit — today's highs and lows and the week ahead, for the small-craft harbour, the flats and going out on the water. Includes the local marine-safety numbers (there is no 911 in Nunavut).
Current rnv service disruptions for Heidelberg's main tram and city-bus lines (5, 21–26, 33, 34) — building work, diversions and closed stops — pulled live from VRN's official service-information feed. It shows reported disruptions, not minute-by-minute delays, and links rnv's live departures for that.
Searching for your town on a phone now shows a Search key on the keyboard, and stops autocorrect from changing place names as you type — so names like Eguisheim, Đà Lạt or Mazraat come out the way you typed them.
The bin-day tool can model a council's separate purple-lid glass bin (collected four-weekly) alongside weekly organics and fortnightly rubbish and recycling, and now shows the next collection as a compact dashboard summary.
Which bin goes out when — the green Organics bin every Tuesday, and the red rubbish and yellow recycling bins on alternating Tuesdays — plus what belongs in each. Indigo Shire is a three-bin shire, so glass bottles and jars go in the yellow bin.
A new calculator works out what trekking the Rwenzori actually costs: the Uganda Wildlife Authority park fees — which are far lower for a Ugandan or East African citizen than for a foreign visitor — the crew's published pay, and a fair tip. Pick a route, the number of days and your group size, and it shows the fees in the right currency, alongside the two community operators who run the Central Circuit and the Kilembe Trail. It is there to help you compare an operator's quote and to make sure the local porters, guides and cooks — who are your neighbours — are paid properly. It does not set a price; your operator's written quote is what binds.
Astoria now has a plain guide to what to do in a tsunami. On this coast a strong or long earthquake is itself the warning — the first wave can be only minutes behind it — so the page explains how to recognise the natural signs, what to do during and after the shaking, and to walk inland and uphill out of the low ground by the river without waiting for a siren or an alert. It points to the official DOGAMI "Beat the Wave" evacuation map and to Clatsop County's alerts and the national tsunami warning service. It is a safety reference to read now, not a live alert.
We added a reusable tool that works out the real cost of trekking a national park where fees are charged per day and depend on whether you are a citizen or a foreign visitor — and that shows the crew's published pay, so people can tell a fair quote from one that underpays the porters and guides. The first one is for the Rwenzori Mountains, above Kasese in Uganda. The same week we also made the tsunami self-evacuation guide work for coasts like Cascadia, where there is no single safe height — only a mapped zone to climb above — so it now fits Astoria, Oregon as well as the Chilean coast it was built for.
Prices, tide heights, costs and other numbers in tool tables are now lined up on the right with even-width figures, so you can glance down a column and see which is biggest without reading every row. Affects price boards, tide times, bill and cost tables, and more.
The village sits close to the Roum fault. This new page shows the earthquakes recorded near Mazraat El Mechref lately, straight from the USGS feed, with the fault story behind them — the 1956 Chim earthquake and the rest — and the official channels that matter when the ground shakes. A quiet month is normal and the page says so; it cannot predict a quake, only show what the ground has been doing.
A two-part page for one of the village's oldest grievances. For anyone thinking of flying a drone: the rules that actually apply over a lived-in village, a quick pre-flight check, and Austro Control's official Dronespace map. For residents a drone is bothering: how to report it — the district authority in Gmunden, what to note, and a printable warning sign. It isn't permission to fly, and says so.
Some towns live with drones flying over gardens and into living-room windows. The new tool states a place's drone rules plainly, lets you check whether you're ready to fly before you do, and — if a drone is bothering you — shows exactly who to report it to. It never claims a flight is legal; the aviation authority's official map has the final word. First used in Hallstatt.
Données Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0).
Fire rules around Sedona are set by two authorities — the Coconino National Forest (Red Rock Ranger District) on the trails and in the canyon, and the Sedona Fire District in town — and they can be at different stages at once. The tool shows where each stands now (both in Stage 1 since 21 May 2026), what each stage allows and bans, the year-round in-town campfire ban, and links each official page and hotline for the day's call.
A new kind of tool for towns where fire rules are set by two or more authorities over overlapping land — a national forest and a city fire district, say — that can be at different restriction stages at the same time. It shows each authority's current stage, what each stage allows and bans, a year-round ban that holds regardless, and links each official page for the day's live call.
The Harbour Conditions page carried a safety note written for patrolled beaches — it told swimmers to stay between the flags when lifeguards are on. Vernazza's harbour has neither, so the note now says plainly that there are no lifeguards here, that you swim at your own risk, and to look at the sea before you get in. The forecast itself is unchanged.
When something on a tool goes wrong — a report won't send, a form needs a little more detail, you've hit a daily limit — the short message explaining why now shows in your town's language, the same as the rest of the page. Until now those few messages only appeared in English, which wasn't much help if English isn't the language you read. This covers the 'report a correction' box on every tool, suggesting a tool, and the neighbour boards (power, water, beach, road and price reports).
For towns where mains power is bought from a private generator by amperage, a new calculator turns the appliances a home runs at once into watts and amps and shows which subscription tier carries them. First use: Sir Ed Danniyeh. Reusable for any town on amperage-priced power.
Tap the appliances you'd run at the same time and it works out the load in watts and amps, then shows whether it fits a 5-amp or 10-amp subscription — and what each costs a month. It pairs with the Generator Bill Checker: this one helps you choose the subscription, that one checks the bill.
Reads the live federal gauge at Cochem and shows, on one calibrated scale, which streets and landmarks go under at the current level — from the first cellars at 5.08 m to the great floods of 1993 and 2024. The levels come from the City of Cochem's 2020 flood plan; the official warning stays with the Hochwassermeldedienst Rheinland-Pfalz, linked in the tool.
Two new tools that other towns can use too. The first helps households that live on stored water work out whether what is in the tank will last until the next delivery, and what daily ration stretches it — for places where piped water arrives only every few weeks. The second puts a town's Catholic churches on a map with their Mass and confession times. Both keep every figure tied to a source we checked.
A reader asked for somewhere to find when Catholic Mass is on, shown on a map like the playground finder. So here it is: the city's Catholic churches on a map and grouped by area — North Oxford, Headington, Cowley, the city centre and South Oxford — each with its Sunday, weekday and confession times, checked against the parish's own website. Times can change for holy days and, at the University Chaplaincy, with the term, so each church links to its own page to confirm. Thank you for the suggestion.
The Parking & access answer now leads with the ~€30 resident rate (the full annual permit is €90, with a 66.67% discount for eligible residents) instead of the €90 figure, matching the parking cost calculator.
