Velika Zaka is barrier-controlled daily from 12 June; Mlino, Mačkovec and Koritno join from 3 July (weekends), with Mlino and Mačkovec daily until 21:00 at the July–August peak. Koritno was missing before and is now included, in both the Parking & access answers and the Roadworks & busy-days board.
Each answer on a town's questions page now has its own link. Open a question and you can copy a link to just that answer to share it; following a link to one — from a search result or a friend — opens and scrolls to it instead of leaving you to hunt through a closed list. The page still works with JavaScript turned off.
The Fire Danger Today tool can now read Western Australia's DFES Emergency WA feeds (alongside Victoria's CFA), so it works for WA towns like Denmark. A new tool reads recent and forecast rainfall together with live National Weather Service warnings for towns where heavy rain triggers landslides — first used in Ketchikan, Alaska.
A tsunami self-evacuation guide for subduction coasts (the quake is the warning; cota-30 and official evacuation plan), and a dusk-and-last-departure planner that pairs computed sunset with a town's last buses home. Both are config-driven and reusable for any town that fits.
Jiufen's magic is the lanterns at dusk, but it's easy to miss the last bus down the mountain. This shows today's sunset and the dusk window alongside the last buses to Taipei, Ruifang and Banqiao — so you can stay for the glow and still get home.
The parking cost comparer can now be set up for towns where parking is a flat hourly rate with no park-and-ride, so it asks only how long you're staying. Bled is the first to use it this way.
When Sa Pa is cut off, it is usually the rain high on the slopes along QL4D, not the rain in town. A new tool reads a weather model's rainfall at three points on the corridor — the Ô Quý Hồ pass, the town and the Mường Hoa valley, and the Móng Sến descent toward Lào Cai — and shows in plain words how much has fallen and what's expected. It is not a road report and not a landslide warning: for whether the road is open, it points to Báo Lào Cai, the national forecaster and the road operator.
Pick how long you're staying and the new parking tool shows the cheapest car park for your visit. The lots right by the lake cost €4.50 an hour; the central lots a short walk back cost €2.50; and a couple give you the first hour free, which can be the cheapest way to make a quick stop. Prices are the municipal rates that took effect in June 2025.
The day's Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban status for the Stirling Coast Fire Weather District — which covers Denmark and Albany — straight from DFES's Emergency WA feeds. It sits beside the burning-period calendar: the calendar tells you which period applies, this tells you what the fire authority has declared for today.
How much rain has fallen in the last day and three days, how much more is expected, and any National Weather Service warning in effect — for the town where heavy rain is what starts landslides. It carries the 2024 Third Avenue Bypass slide as context and points to NWS Juneau, Alaska 511, the Borough and 911. It is a heads-up, never a verdict that a slope is safe.
When you send a correction, suggest a tool, or save your account, the result is now announced aloud — so people using a screen reader hear whether it worked, not just see it on the page.
The 'what your commute costs' calculator now handles fuel priced per U.S. gallon and a transit option's monthly pass — charging the cheaper of paying per ride or buying the pass, and saying which wins — so it reads honestly for American commuter towns. First use: Santa Clarita.
Compare driving in and parking against Santa Clarita Transit's Commuter Express to Downtown L.A. — set your own days and your own car, and it shows which costs less over a year, with the official fares and gas price to check it against.
Three short self-guided routes timed around the day-trip crush: the classic old-town circuit best walked before the boats arrive, the two climbs to the Reichsburg and the Pinnerkreuz for air and views, and a walk across the river to Cond for the Cold War Bundesbank bunker. Each is honest about footing, season and the guided-tour times.
The car-free way to Melbourne on V/Line route 301 — via Woodend or Ballarat, which one is faster, and the last service back so a day out doesn't end with you stranded.
The day's official Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban status for the Central fire district, straight from the CFA feed — with the channels for a fire happening now. A rating covers the whole district, not your street.
Where Techiman floods each rainy season — the Tano-overflow communities and the Aworano bridge that cuts off the road — which wet season it is now, and whether the weather model expects heavy rain. It is not a flood warning, and it lists who to call.
On any tool that lists a place to visit, tapping the address now opens it in your phone's map app for directions — no more copying it across by hand.
River-level tools can now read England's Environment Agency real-time gauges (Open Government Licence), starting with the River Aire at Leeds. Every English town on a gauged river can now show its live level, trend and recent range.
How high the Aire is running at Crown Point in the city centre, updated through the day, with where it sits against the last month — next to the official flood warnings. The river's record here is the 2015 Boxing Day flood.
A new building block for valley towns where morning fog is a driving hazard. It reads modelled visibility and bands it only on published scales — the WMO fog definitions and the US National Weather Service's quarter-mile Dense Fog Advisory and 200-foot severe-fog thresholds — and always defers the drive-or-not call to the official weather and road authorities. First use: Bakersfield's tule fog.
A winter companion to the heat and air tools. It reads the forecast model's visibility hour by hour, says in plain words how far you can see right now and over the next mornings, and puts the official fog and road channels first — the NWS Hanford Fog Severity Index and Caltrans live cameras. It never tells you it's safe to drive.
The neighbour-reported road-conditions board — first built for Maleny in English — now has a full Spanish translation, so it reads naturally for Spanish-speaking towns instead of falling back to English. Its first Spanish home is Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador, for the landslide-prone E30 road to Puyo.
When a 'Can I Take My Boat Out?' tool is pinned to a town page, it now shows whether wider boats may use the canal right now — the live state of the seasonal width window — instead of a plain card.
One place for the numbers a resident needs: gemeente Steenwijkerland, your Giethoorn GP at De Tjasker, the nearest hospital and out-of-hours doctor in Meppel, ROVA for waste, and the water board. Numbers are tappable, with a note on the boat-route bins for homes on the water.
When you move between the search box or a form's fields with a keyboard on a phone, the field you're on now shows a clear outline. Before, that outline only appeared on larger screens.
A new kind for trail towns: pick a walk and a start time and it works out whether you'd be back before the last light today (calendar astronomy, so it tracks the season) and the wind you'd meet on the exposed sections (the live Open-Meteo forecast). First use is El Chaltén, the Capital Nacional del Trekking.
The live height of the Moyne River at the Toolong gauge upstream of town, with its recent range and trend — the reading the local flood guide watches. Data from the Bureau of Meteorology; official flood warnings linked. It's not a flood warning, just the river's level.
A new tool shows when the lake is calm and when it fills up — the daily rhythm (early mornings and evenings are quietest), the seasonal one (July and August carry about a third of the year's overnight stays), and the busy weeks to plan around, like Bled Days and the Strategic Forum. It's a guide to the usual pattern, not a live count.
Each line on a contact — phone, WhatsApp, email, address, opening hours, website — now has a small icon in front of it. So you can spot the opening hours or the address at a glance, without reading every line, in any language. Nothing changed about the contacts themselves.
Added 'mountain-access', a render-time planner for resort towns where getting up the mountain is the daily friction — an interactive parking calculator plus the shuttle, park-and-rides and seasonal road, first used in Stowe, Vermont. And 'road-reports', a neighbour-reported road-conditions board on the community-board pattern (tap a curated road segment, pick clear/slow/blocked; the median shows and ages out on its own), for single-road towns where fog, flood or a crash can cut the way out — first used for Maleny's range roads in Queensland. Both are reusable for towns like them.
A neighbour-reported board for the roads up and down the range — the ways in and out that fog, flooding, a crash or a fallen tree can cut. Sign in to tap a road and say whether it's clear, slow going or blocked right now; the board shows the recent picture and clears itself as conditions change. It always points to the official QLDTraffic line (13 19 40) for closures, and to 000 and the SES (132 500) in an emergency — neighbours, not an authority.
A plain-language planner for the crawl up Mountain Road on busy days. Work out your parking — free after 2 p.m., free with a full car of four, free on weekdays, or the $30 day rate — or park free at a feeder lot and ride the free shuttle up. It also covers the seasonal Smugglers' Notch closure and the fall-foliage traffic, when there's no shuttle and no paid parking. Prices and the shuttle operator reset each season, so it says plainly to confirm before you go.
Pick the day you're visiting to see which of Hallstatt's main sights are open — the salt mine (closed for the new funicular build until summer 2026), the World Heritage Museum and the bone house — with this year's seasonal hours and admission. It points to each official site to confirm, because hours drift.
hazard-warnings reads Norway's official NVE/Varsom flood, landslide and avalanche warnings live; fair-fares turns a town's negotiated day-costs into an interactive fair-price calculator. Both are reusable across towns.
Tick the station transfer, the tuk-tuk to the lagoons, a tube and the entry fees and see a fair total in kip — with the inflated ask to refuse and a one-line defence for each item.
The homepage now says plainly that anyone, anywhere, can put a town forward for free without signing up — it never required an account. Sharing a tool also now names its town, so a link sent to a neighbour reads "Water supply board — Jinja" instead of a bare tool name.
