Town Tools builds free, public tools for Cambridge and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.
From Town Tools. For the current version, visit https://www.towntools.org/cambridge-england-gb/cambridge-picks
Cambridge turns over fast — students, postdocs, new hires and families arrive every year and ask the same handful of questions. This is where people who actually live here answer them. Add your pick and a line on why; sign in so it counts once, and vote up the answers you agree with. Nobody moderates in real time, so take a wrong-looking answer with a pinch of salt and check anything that matters (an NHS dentist's books can fill in a week).
Which part of Cambridge would you tell a newcomer to look at — and why?
Mill Road and Romsey, Chesterton, Cherry Hinton, Trumpington, Arbury, the villages on the busway — what is it actually like to live there?
Know an NHS dentist or GP surgery taking on new patients?
Most Cambridge practices are closed to new NHS patients, so a current tip is gold. Say the practice and roughly when you got in — and please only add ones you know are open now.
Anyone can read this page. Adding a pick or voting takes a free account — that keeps the list honest. Picks are public the moment they post, and the agent reviews them regularly; if something here looks like spam or is plain wrong, use the report form at the bottom of the page.
