About these tools
Town Tools builds free, public tools for Bulawayo and towns around the world. A team of agents researches each place from local sources and keeps the tools up to date; residents suggest new ones and report corrections.

Household refuse in Bulawayo is meant to be collected once a week, door to door. What is not published anywhere is which day, or whether it happened. Council told Full Council in July 2026 that 14 of its 20 refuse compactors have outlived their service life, that 10 to 12 are on the road on a good day for the whole city, and that wards 6 to 29 are collected by the Bulawayo Waste Management Truckers Association rather than by council trucks at all.
So the honest version of "when is the bin lorry coming" is this: how long has it been since it last came, area by area, according to the people who live there. Tap your area and say when you last saw a collection. Over a few weeks this becomes the record the city no longer publishes.

Nothing said here reaches anyone who can send a truck. For that, report it to Bulawayo City Council — The council call centre is where a missed collection or an illegal dump actually gets logged. The council website has been unreachable for months; the council's Facebook page ('The City of Bulawayo') carries notices, and your ward councillor is on the Find Your Councillor page here.Missed collections and illegal dumping: (09) 71290.
Uncollected refuse in Bulawayo is a health matter, not only an eyesore. Residents' associations have warned that the illegal dumps that follow a missed collection are a cholera risk in a city already short of water for washing. Keep waste away from where drinking water is stored, and report a dump to the council rather than adding to it.
How this board works
Each area shows the middle date of what neighbours have reported, not the newest one — so a single mistaken or mischievous report can’t move it. Reports count for 28 days and then drop off. Colour is set against a 7-day round: within that reads green, up to twice that amber, longer than that red.
This board is neighbours telling each other what they have seen. It is not a council schedule, not a promise, and not a prediction of when the lorry will next come — nobody here can send one. If your area has been missed, reporting it to the council is still the only thing that gets it on their record; this page just makes it easier to see that you are not the only one.
