The Ovens is dammed with removable boards at Centenary Park (and at Porepunkah) for the warm months — roughly mid-December to the Easter long weekend — then the boards come out and the river runs cold and fast for winter. The exact dates are set each year by the Alpine Shire Council and Bright Rotary, so treat this as the usual pattern and confirm on the council's page below.
