A Band D home in the main town pays £2,151.54 in 2026/27. It is collected on one bill but shared between the authorities that levy it:
Pays for bins, roads, adult and children's social care, parks, libraries and the rest of the council's services.
The policing share, set by the Greater Manchester Mayor.
The Mayor's general precept, which includes the fire and rescue service.
Five parts of the borough have their own parish or town council, which adds a small amount to the bill. Everywhere else is unparished. The parish charge at Band D:
| Parish | Adds at Band D |
|---|---|
| Haigh parish | £59.45 |
| Shevington parish | £28.88 |
These figures come from the council’s published band schedule and are worked out with the standard band proportions. The council’s own schedule is the authority on what you owe.
